Hi Pictrures below - wasn't able to get them in here on my first post Finally found a forum about retro cars. I'm a big fan of keeping older cars going in good condition and believe the we've had the best cars with the modern stuff all being a bit same same. Owned the Corrado for about 3 years and it is in it's last stage of refurbishment at the bodyshop having a windows out respray. The mechanicals have been refurbished with just the bottom end and steering rack remaining original parts. Also carried out a couple of upgrades - Bilstein B12, R32 rear front wishbone bush, 263 cams, Stealth Remap to 220bhp. Otherwise stock. Corrado pic My Golf is a recent purchase. Bought as a cheap run around to get my wife to work during the current crisis but I really like it. Plans are to tidy it up - DA the paint work, steam and wet vac/extract the interior (dog smell) and replace bits and pieces to bring to a tidy honest standard. I'll moderately lower it 30mm and upgrade the shock absorbers and fit an R32/LCR rear front wishbone bush to sharpen things up slightly but keep the OEM look. Golf pic Not a VW but from the same stock - Seat Exeo, a rebadged B7 Audi A4 but with common rail engines. I've owned this car since it was 6 months old and put 75k on it. It is the "modern" family car and does its job really well. It was a bargain when I bought it (half the price of the equivalent Audi) and still is today. Maybe it will be a retro classic in years to come - quite a rare car when it was new. Seat pic

Here are some pictures from last year when the work was done on the engine (and other bits like bushes and brakes etc). The Corrado is currently in the bodyshop awaiting a windows out respray. Top end and coming (went in for timing chain replacement) Good Job as the tensioner was about to bite the dust New clutch etc as part of the job Head off and refurbed, 263 cams fitted Going back together End result

Thanks chaps. Oh no the paintwork is good. I had it painted in 2020 - windows out jobby - and overall it is 95% nice and was done with Novol products. However I didn't know a great deal about bodyshops and picked a refinisher type place and they have used the wrong stonechip on one side (or put it on too thick) and they did weld in a repair for the fuel filler area but it's a mk2 golf repair panel meaning the Corrado fuel door doesn't fit, and the mk2 door whilst lines up isn't quite right to my eye. A spot of miscommunication, I thought they were just going to cut in the bottom left hand corner where the rot was but they cut the entire area out. It's one of those issues that no one but me (and now you guys ) would know but it annoys me immensely. I've done so much to the car to make it reliable and this is the last piece in the jigsaw to resolve, annoying as re-doing work, but I've had sleepless nights about letting it go as I do like the car. This is a mk2 fuel door on the Corrado I have a booking with a place called DST Rustworx / Dan Tinkler (on facebook, based up North) and he's going to sort it. He is a talented fabricator and I would recommend a follow - he is doing extensive work on a Mitsubishi at the moment. It just means the green Mk2 will take longer. I also have a red mk3 16v but will probably be selling it to contribute to works on the Corrado and take some of the sting away. Or I might keep it and use as a daily and get rid of my other daily... I work from home and only do about 3k in my daily. My wife has the family car. ... it seems a shame to sell the mk3 16v as I've renovated the chassis, brakes, bushes, fuel/brake lines etc etc and had the bodykit off and repaired with new metal any failing areas. Only done 78k as well.

A mk3 16V is a cracking car once you drop it an inch on stiffer springs. A mk3 16V is an even crackinger car if you bin the shell and use a mk2 one instead.

Literally just thought I can't remember the last time I saw a MK3 Valver that wasn't being pillaged as a donor...then read your comment Keep the updates coming @veereihenmotor6, look forward to seeing these progress!

haha yes I picked up my mk3 16v as a non runner. It had the key barrel changed but whoever did it had forgotten about the factory immobiliser so once that was resolved it fired straight up. I bought the mk3 as I had thought I'd missed the boat on mk2 16vs however the green one had some fancy wheels (OZ Futura's) I was able to sell on to make the purchase more affordable. The mk3 has Bilstein B12 (-20/30mm) and a Miltek cat back and that's all for modifications. It does seem a bit pointless to have a mk2 16v (mine has a 2.0 block from an ABF under the K jet) and a mk3 16v but I might have done too much the mk3 at this stage to get any worth out of selling it on and had may as well keep it and use as a daily. We have 2 daily cars (the Seat and the low mile 20 year old Corsa), both getting on and neither as "rebuilt" as the mk3 is. I have put the mk2 project on hold to focus on getting the mk3 back out and on the road and sadly that meant the MOT lapsed on the mk2 but I wasn't happy driving it until I'd given it a good going over and refresh. This is how the car arrived, not my cuppa the big wheels/slammed suspension so I have put it back to BBS RAs, raised the suspension (fresly rebuilt Koni Coilovers by prev owner) and sourced all the missing trims etc to put it back to more stock looking (even the hidden ones). It's a tidy car on first glance but the chap who did the wheels has cut the geniune wings and rolled the rear arches. Big exhaust back box will have to go, will probably get a custom stainless box made to mimic factory and keep the rest of the system (Jetex). There is no rot on the rear arches so I am going to first attempt at persuading them back into the normal shape - on these cars the black plastic covers rivit into the arch lips. I could just leave it and bond them on but that would annoy me in the long run. Here are some random photos of stuff I've done. The pile of rusty parts are what got blasted and coated and was done at a time when I had the crazy idea that I would have the time to do the mk2 and mk3 together - nope, just burnt myself out and resented working on cars. I'm building an extension to my timber garage this winter, concrete base was laid last week and I am doing to rest so cars will take a bit of back seat again for a while. I am hoping to continue with the mk3 in the evenings and use the day light for the garage at weekends.

Moved the cars around whilst getting space for building materials. Liked the way they were parked so took a photo, as you do. I'll be happy once my garage is ready for both of these though.
