From the BBC website, apparently traffic is as busy as it was in the seventies There’s s few pics to remind us of what traffic looks like Funny thing was, I’m running along the line of cars going ‘ 1100, sceptre, cortina mk1 etc etc’ Try that with today’s cars? I’d be going ‘Shapeless blob, shapeless blob’ ad infinitum🙄

According to the article, it’s 275 automated recording sites that have shown levels at 35-45% of the norm. Don’t say where the sites are though! It’s varied round here (Norfolk) but yesterday was busier than today, even though it was foggy Still had the same amount of idiots with no lights tho’ 🙄

I wonder if the driver of the orange Renault (Dacia?) 8 has clocked what's looming in his mirrors. Menacing! Also a DAF Anglebox. How rare!

Can’t quite believe the number of caravans in the inside lane in that first pic 😀 West bound on the M5 i dare say!! Could possibly be eastbound as the result of a typical British summer 😀. Growing up in the SW, I remember BBC Spotlight reporting everyone packing up and leaving on mass following endless torrential downpours.

Over in germany during the oil crisis there were car-less sundays with empty autobahn(s) and other roads. The only vehicles in the streets were probably horse-dragged.
That´s where the 70s comparison applies to.

Within a few days it was back to early 60s level. Last week it was back to the mid 70s or so I read. This week have spotted the return of that elusive creature the lesser spotted traffic jam here in Swindon so I wold guess we are back to the 90s now. Judging by the roads people have basically given up on essential only travel. either that or they are stretching essential to Professor Neil Fergusson levels. People just seem to have had it with staying indoors.

The first item on our news last week was that carbon levels are the lowest ever recorded. No surprise there, little or no planes flying, much much less traffic & much less industry pumping out sh1t. The next story was how we MUST get the aviation industry up & running asap so people don’t lose their jobs 🙈🙈

However will the world cope not being able to be progressively richer than the year before it 😉
