Here's one I made earlier: My friend and I made this for my Classic Mini about 20 years ago. The "Push Once" button was the starter which I found in a bus in a breaker's yard. It cost 50p - they're £30+ on eBay now!! Next to that is a small speaker for the CB which I constructed from an old clock radio and a broken oil pressure gauge. I am nothing if not resourceful...  |

Yes, dafs. Had loads before they got popular (and unaffordable) in Holland. What's the lightblue and white one bl1300Do not recognise it. Love the sattelite screenheater and overall color |

Weird.... We had a 750 van , but in my memory it's it had a different dash..

Here's my Chimaera. Slightly retrimmed with Alcantera topped dash section, but that's about to change again with my latest lockdown project... THIS is a classic design. One of my pet peeves is a million buttons, switches and gauges that seemingly do very little, and make the important items disappear amongst the unnecessary. I like clean, classic and classy designs like this, that accentuate what's important, and sod the rest. This even centres everything towards the driver, saying, you're in control, this is your car and your journey!' |

Not very '60's, though the low dash pad & instrument 'strip' styling probably originated there. I think I'll be looking to retrim the seats on my Prelude project to match this Japanese example for more personality. Shame the optional speaker (& passenger airbag mine doesn't have) spoils the top of the dash, & door vent location wrecks the flow from dash to door trim. Perhaps another hidden display screen in the clock location, hidden radio & a deeply dished wheel hornpad would help clean it up further? I've got the Civic's in Grey/black or Blue  Love the low cowl, lower dash, dished wheel hornpad & 'floating' seat mountings there. Though looking at removing the centre console from one for a simpler more horizontal 'floating' dash-pad as well. |

But, you must tell the story of the seats and the switch pack on the centre console, as I recognize neither.

You will probably have realised that this dashboard is 420G not Mk X, as distinguished by the padded roll at the top of the dash and the centre clock. The switches show this model is equipped with electric windows, it's the master console. I'm not sure what you mean by the story of seats? On the Mk X / 420G they were full size armchairs, the seats in this example look to have been recovered. In this photograph you can get a feel for how wide the seats were, (I once carried 5 friends in the rear of my Mk X and they were not too uncomfortable), bearing in mind that its predecessor the Mk VII / VIII / IX had a full width bench seat in the front of the car. The Mk X / 420G was the widest British production car at 6'6" wide.  The centre armrests were hinged to fold away, the side armrests were the padded door pull inside the door.  |
