with this lockdown I’ve been checking around the Stag and noticed the front brake pads were looking quite low. I was just going to replace the front pads with Mintex or EBC green stuff, decided on Greenstuff with new Rossini discs and standard rear shoes
Removed the calliper and disc, found some pitting on the stub shaft, cleaned it up and not too bad.
fitted the disc and calliper, come to fit the pads and had to file the edges of the pads to get them to fit. I seem to remember having to do this on my BGT with green stuff pads, that was about 16 years ago!!

Some pitting on the stub shaft, cleaned up ok tho. Pads needed trimming!

I'd check the bearing as theres seems a bit of bluing on the shaft. The pads shouldn't need filing but if you do leave the red covering as that helps them to bed in. Did the pistons go back fully.
The green stuff are good but the yellow is even better.

The green stuff are good but the yellow is even better. Bearings seem fine, no blueing on the shaft. Pistons went fully back, I haven’t filed the friction surface just the outer part of the pad otherwise they won’t go fully into the calliper. I’ll finish off later tonight or the weekend.

Moving on to the passenger side. Checked the run out of original disc, very good Again, had to file the profile of the pads, I shouldn’t have to do this on pads costing 4x the price of original standards! Now fitted, just need to touch up the paint on the callipers and move onto the rears, they’ll be fun!

Fronts finished Moved onto the rears, didn’t take a photo of the new shoes fitted tho EBC literature states bedding the pads in for 60-100 miles depending on driving style, after 200 miles perform several emergency stops! That’s going to take a while then with this lockdown!
