1983 Autobianchi A112 LX - Spares or Repairs
Rare Italian supermini, which was imported from Italy as a parts car but is no longer required. Due to this it has not been registered and has no documents, although the chassis number is still intact and is possible to register in the UK.
This is a 6th Series LX model which benefits from electric windows, 965cc engine and 5 speed gearbox among other small changes.
Bodywork wise it is very untidy. Almost all panels are damaged / dented / rusty in some way, including the roof. However I do not consider the rust terminal and structurally it is pretty good, with only a small amount of welding required on the rear left strut tower and the centre jacking points. The floor is amazingly rust free from what I can see underneath.
The interior carpets have been removed along with the seatbelts, headlining and other small trim pieces. The seats are pretty well worn and would need replacing in my opinion, but may be salvagable. The original spare wheel and jack is still in the boot.
The engine bay is untidy but all complete. I have not tried starting it so condition is unknown. The gearbox selects all gears fine.
Overall I would consider it to be a good parts car, or with some work could be put back into use, although to fully restore the bodywork to pristine condition would take a lot of work. These cars are amazingly simple to work on and are something a bit different to the usual Minis etc. Spares are easy to come by and share a lot of parts with the Fiat 127.
More images on eBay but I wanted to advertise it on the forum as well in case anyone missed it. Its a project car I thought would fit in well here being a bit different!
I have a spare bootlid here that can go with the car which is slightly better condition, as well as 2 scrap Abarth shells that might be able to donate some interior parts. The Abarth shells are super rusty and stripped down, but if you can collect you are more than welcome to the Abarth shells free of charge which might help for spares! I am in the process of trying to get the two extra taken for scrap (although everywhere seems closed at the moment), so if you want these as well as the good car I wouldn't hang around too long
