Hi all hope everyone is staying safe and keeping well given the current situation
Just before all this a was messing round like us all on ebay and Gumtree looking for something preferably a automatic that would look well nice and low
Came across a local ad on Gumtree for a c240 not the best ad short and not fantastic photos but made me think so a few messages and a call later went to see the car
Owned by husband and wife in there late 80s since the car was 3 year old serviced by the same garage for 16years and more good news to follow
Full beige leather heated and electric drivers seat all working
Leather and wood steering wheel
Air con that works
Cruise and all other mod cons all work
Low miles only 84k lots of invoices ect
Drives like a cloud no knocks are bangs bla bla bla
All good now it is a old merc so there is also a list of not so good
Rust no suprise there wings wheel arches bottom of doors ect but underneath is ad solid as a rock
Scuffs on the bumpers
Front bumper needs new bracket drivers side as it hanging low
Inside
Leather is good condition no major wear but needs a dam good clean
Drivers door card needs a new wood trim as previous old gentleman broke it then screwed it on (have no idea why he did this as if he glued it on would have looked better but it's done)
Few little oil leeks from usaual places
So as like you we on lockdown I have adressed a few issues just taking my time and getting kids to give a hand and also keep them entertained.
Washed and polished with poor boys blackhole then dodo juice purple haze as was over due looks loads better and entertained kids and me for a while
Deep clean the leather using strong leather cleaner and a magic sponge (works amazing)
put pressed number plates on as the old ones were old and horrible
Replaced air filter with Cotton green panel filter my son now thinks he is awesome as he changed this himself (only 4)
Remapped the ecu now the car is never going to be fast I did this as it smoothes the delivery out and also makes the car a little better on fuel as a added bonus and well a know a lad that dose this and owes me a favor so cost was very small it drives noticeably smoother and a little bit more responsive
And that's were we are upto I need do sort all the panels out and get it to the body shop there is no rush for this
Awaiting a few seals and will replace these also
