Hi Guys At the moment i am living in temporary accommodation so parking a car is impossible. I was banned from driving and my licence has been delayed due to corona-virus. I was storing my car in my works car park but i just lost my job due to corona-virus. I have been allowed 2 weeks to find storage for my car. Can anyone suggest ways of finding storage for my car? Its parked at Deeside Industrial Park right near the border of Cheshire and North Wales. I called up a local car storage place but they only do 12 months of storage and not the 1 or 2 months i might need. I can put it on the road once i get my licence back but for now i have to assume its not gonna happen anytime soon. I am obviously happy to pay for any storage costs. cheers all.

can't you get a friend to insure it in there name for a month or 2 tax it and then get the friend to park it in a street near you, just don't be tempted to use it until you get your license back.

I thought you had to be a council tenant to be eligible for renting a garage. I'm not sure if this can be done in such a short space of time.

Try Clwyd car auctions they do storage. Thanks for your reply. I did already give them a call, they said they don't really take on cars in their storage but they tried to help but could not go to the premises because of the virus.

Thanks for your reply. I'm afraid that is no good as I'm not guaranteed to be staying at the same address. It would be a good idea if i was but due to my job loss i don't know where I'm going to be.

Do you know of any farmers with a barn or land that you can use?
Good luck with finding employment.

Some large storage places like Big Yellow or Access Storage will allow cars to be stored in the car park for not a massive amount. The one problem you might find though is when I enquired a few years ago they wanted the car to be taxed, MOTd and insured despite it being a private car park.
I did find one eventually that didn’t mind cars not having any of the above because they had a painter/bodywork place next door which was always running out of space so it was quite lucrative to have any old car parked up.
Good luck matey 👍🏻

Good luck matey 👍🏻 Thanks for the suggestion mate. Its worth calling a few of them to see if they can help. Its worth a shot, all going well they are still open for business. I put a wanted advert on Facebook and Gumtree so fingers crossed someone might have some space for me.

Given what's going on, if you can find any car dealer or suchlike trade that is currently closed, they may appreciate a few quid thrown their way to park in their grounds, without the need to get anywhere near an individual. Insurance may stop that idea though. Try a wheel repair centre or bodyshop. They'll all have some outside space and less business than usual.
Or else a self storage place that uses containers. I know of a couple that have cars stored in some of their units.
Not knowing anyone in the area is the biggest issue I think. Then you would know people that know people etc. Maybe try asking your ex-work colleagues, or even the ex-boss, if they know anywhere or anyone. Given they know you, they might know an in-law or another business owner with some free unit/driveway space. That's easier than arriving at a farmers door asking to leave your definitely-not-a-drug-dealer-stereotype A8 in their barn for a month while you "vacate the area suddenly due to a change in circumstances"...

Many thanks for your reply. You cleverly came up with a few good suggestions but luckily i got a few replies from my Facebook adverts, i now have a chap who will let me use his carport in Ellesmere Port, i also have another lined up should that one fall through. If anything goes wrong i can always try contacting the storage places. I might need to go and start the engine every 2 weeks to keep the battery charged. I don't know the person so I'm reluctant to leave the key.
