So, I'm just considering options at the moment and kind of fancy something with a bit more power and smoothness.
I have an SD1 VItesse which needs some work so thinking forwards am wondering about a Lezus LS engine (1UZE?) Anyone done this to an SD1 or another motor?
How difficult was it to get the whole package working?

I'm sure others will be along with more details but I'm sure it's been done and featured in PPC magazine.

From what I recall it went in relatively easily too with only some minor modifications required to physically get it in. From memory I think the engine subframe needed to be lowered a bit (happy to be corrected as it was a few years ago!) - I seem to remember back then they used most of the Lexus instrumentation made to fit the Rover pod. From what I recall the electrics were the most difficult bit as the gearbox ecu needed to talk to the engine ecu. Think they used the Lexus loom with unnecessary stuff removed. Someone also put a Lexus V8 into a P5B on here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/112922/1968-rover-p5b-rolex One thing I would be considering though - a Vitesse will only ever go up in value - I'd be looking to use something like a lowly 2300 instead as a base.

I'm fitting a lexus v8 and autobox to a mk1 Granada which has a big engine bay. But the lexus motor fills it totally. Its a very large and wide engine. The other problem you will encounter is thats its a front sump which is a pain. Be careful when buying youre doner car, avoid cars with factory imobilesers (post 94 I think). The imobiliser is almost impossible to get around. The wireing not that difficult and its a well trodden path, theres plenty of info out there. On the plus side the Rovers engine bay is huge if I rember correctly. Good luck.

The engine bay is indeed huge, big enough for this . . .
