Excellent stuff. Lancia always good to learn more about. Are you familiar with www.eddinsmoto.com? Lovely bloke in Berkeley, California who specialized in Lancia (believe out of business now?) Cool website nonetheless. I'll be looking forward to your posts. John

Or did they think the new solution would bear torque and forces better (triangle shape) but forgot by lengthening the arm you increase the force.. What is that nice little transfer box about your friend made? To power a volumex? Thom Thom The Flavia range of cars ran 1.8 and 2 litre engines, producing plenty of torque, and weighing considerably more than the Fulvia. I doubt we will find a reason! The "transfer box'you referred to, is probably something to do with the Lucas mechanical injection he was running. I presume that's what you're talking about?

I've spent a lot of time and energy adapting the new car to take a 'new' design of subframe. I say "new", but in fact it was actually employed on the Series1 Fulvia Sedan in 1963. I've mentioned this in a previous post in this thread.
Where it's normally spot-welded, it is now all seam-welded, for strength, and to retain the Waxoyl for more than a few seconds!,
I've partially assembled the various suspension mounts, and a couple of cross members, to ensure it bolts into the chassis without too much grief.
What I now need is a media blaster/powder coater to spring into action, somewhere in East Sussex, ideally, who is happy, or at least prepared to risk their liberty, to do this for me.. Any suggestions/ recommendations would be most welcome!

Media blast - yes. Powder coat - no.
Powder coating is no good for this type of thing - one chip & water creeps under the coating and rots it all out. Just paint it - one chip & it just rusts where the chip is.

As said, looks great & more logical than Lancias re-design. Your picture shows off what a work of art those cast alloy wishbone & spring mountings are too.

Sussex Blast Cleaning Ltd 35, Station Road, Industrial Estate, Hailsham BN27 2ER Phone: 01323 84922 Thanks, Ian. I'm aware of SBC in Hailsham, and have used them quite a lot over the last few years. I like them, but they're not answering phone or email or Web contact. Really, I doubt any "non-essential" business is open at the moment, but the Government obviously doesn't get the essential needs of us classic/retro types! I'm looking for someone who might bend those rules a bit, so I can get on :-)

Great looking project. Can't wait to watch it all come to life. Exciting. Looks like you are really going down the modified route. Fantastic stuff. A man with Fulvia knowledge it is most definitely clear to see.
As a fellow Fulvia restorer if you have any spares at all that you would be looking to sell i would bite your arm off. I'm looking for a tank (may look at having an aluminium jobbie fabricated) and also desperately looking for a rear leaf spring. When i bought the car it had both springs sheared. I've managed to get one but now just hit a brick wall with it.
Many Thanks
Chris

Chris, I'm in the US - not a big place for Lancia's - but grew up reading English car mags, so Omicron comes to mind for the parts you need. Are they still in business? Best, John

One usable but damaged ~ slipped off jack ~ the other, S1, but with added return nozzle for S2 use, is perfect. I have rear springs. The "transfer box" is my design to enable driving the Kugelfischer pump off the back of the inlet cam. It has to be stepped up to clear the transverse spring box.

Lots to sort out in the engine bay and subframe fitment that will keep me busy but i was looking to start rebuilding the rear end at least to make some more progress. I will for sure have a tank off you if you are able to let one go for a reasonable asking price as mine is an absolute mess. Leaf spring also 100% for sure. I am happy to message you my phone number or vice versa. I guess social distancing is an issue at the moment. Many Thanks Chris

Lovely car 😀
Are the uprights alloy? If so have you considered galvanising the steel part of the subframe?

The steel parts were painted satin black originally, so I shall probably go that way. Galvanised or even nickel plate would be lovely, but the steel isn't really well enough finished not to require some kind of disguise!

Ah! wished Lancia had done that also with the later models instead of using the cambelt for the power steering. Lovely construction! As an Italian car nut I wonder how faboulous the Lancia's and Alfa's would have been if they would have slept one night over certain ideas and invested 25.000 Lire per car in rust treatment.... Thom
