With the purchase of a second classic car, it was time to get decent storage for the two cars. We already had a large shed from when I had motorbikes but was too small for one car, never mind two. We decided on a custom built 18'x16' wooden garage from a local timber fence/shed manufacturer. The garden was going to have to be redeveloped to accommodate the new garage so I roped in a mate who's a groundsman/landscape gardener to do the bulk of the prep work. Basically the garage is going where the shed is, the shed where the decking is and the decking moving to the patio. So far, the decking has been moved, ground prepped for moving the shed onto and a drain installed at the same time to cure a flooding issue in the border/grass near the back door. The progress so far.........

Next bit of progress ready for the shed to move over. All the rubble on the left of the decking was dumped under the deck to save having to take to the dump.

We had decided that keeping both the garage and the shed would take up too much space in the garden. The garage should have been up by now but the lockdown happened the day after my last update so nothing changed until I saw an advert on FB looking for a shed. After a couple of messages on Friday afternoon we agreed on a price and by Saturday afternoon it went from this... to this... Now we are waiting for the contractor to reopen and get the concrete slab laid.

Finally got a date for the builder to lay the concrete - 20th July. Hopefully things will start to move again now.

You need to go full width of the garden,
you wont regret it !
If you don't the bit of garden to the side of a smaller garage will be waste

You need to go full width of the garden, you wont regret it ! If you don't the bit of garden to the side of a smaller garage will be waste I know I wouldn't regret it but it would take up too much garden and I could see the neighbours complaining. Planning permission would probably be an issue as well. I still need a shed of sorts for the garden stuff - just not the size of the old one.

The builder turned up today and put the shuttering up and laid a course of hardcore ready for the concrete to go down tomorrow. Feels like progress is being made at last.

Further progress today - more hardcore, membrane laid and the reinforcing placed over it. The builder now has a long weekend off so the concrete won't get poured until Tuesday.

Are you going to paint the floor? Is it flat enough to paint and be happy with? I'm only asking because it might be easier to deal with that sort of thing before the shed builder shows up...

The timber panels have now been made and they all arrived on a huge (for our cul-de-sac) flat bed truck. A team of fitters have got it to this stage.

End of play today and it's looking like this..... They're coming back tomorrow to hang the doors then it's a case of shifting everything in, getting electricity into it and then the cars and working round them for storage. A busy few weekends ahead.

Jealous, makes me wish I had trades in to assist instead of stubbornly taking it all on myself. Great progress.
