When I moved into this house dome 11 years past the garage was a single with a wooden shed stuck on the end which was big enough to store another car in.
Some 6 years ago I had the builders in and had the garage extended and a workshop added. It is now big enough to take a MX5, a new Mini and a motorbike with room to spare. The MX5 and the Skoda Octavia fit in but the Mini is given a dry space.
I had the roof space floored with a large trap door and slingsby ladder added. It's a great space to keep all,the curse word I can't bare to through out.
The ceiling and walls were plastered but I have never got around to,painting them, one day perhaps.
I spent a clean fortune on putting in plenty of double sockets, plenty of electronic strip lights and low level lights. Unfortunately in the winter time the electronic strip lights can be very temperamental about lighting up. Need to be used very regularly in winter but in the summer no problem.
I very recently bought a bike lift, something I have promised myself for years. Although I am only 60 years old, I can't be arsed crawling on the floor anymore and in fact I don't get under any of my cars unless it's an emergency.
Good full wool carpet from my Aunts house makes it so much easier to work in.

I see your wellingtons are placed ready for action; surely with carpeting, slippers should be the order of the day.
As for being 60 and "can't be arsed crawling on the floor anymore and in fact I don't get under any of my cars unless it's an emergency".
It gets progressively harder as you get older. Things like fighting with my Honda F720 rotavator yesterday afternoon, bring that home.

Swap the tubes in the strip lights to LED tubes, loads more light and instant starting even when below freezing.
You might need to re-wire the fittings or buy the slightly more expensive tubes that work directly in existing fittings.

Carpet down in the garage makes things alot nicer. Especially when working in the winter.
I picked up enough carpet tiles to do my large single garage 1.5 times out of a skip from an office clearout where i was working a few years back.
And recently my mum gave me an old shag rug she was throwing out.
Garage looks good, I'm not a bike guy but that lift looks super handy

It looks like subject to survey that I have bought a new house to move to.
So unfortunately I will be leaving my two car garage and workshop and moving to a 19' 4" X 12' 10" metal garage that is ply lined and insulated.
My new partner needs to be near her grandchild for child minding duties so her house is up for sale and this place will go on the market once the local estate agents are doing valuations again.
The new house has like here, two carports, one tall enough for a motor home though I have a caravan. The other is in front of the metal garage and is over two cars long.
So I will just have to get used to a smaller garage but It will be fine.

As I had bought the paint some months ago, and with nothing much else to do I got my finger out and it helps to brighten up the garage.
I know that I am moving and this place will be sold, but I might as well tidy it up a bit.

Bike lifts, elevating tables / benches are an extremely useful addition to any workshop, you can work on components at a comfortable height. Save your back, well worth the expense if you have the space for one. |

Unfortunately the survey showed up 9 different problems with our intended purchase so we pulled out of the purchase and went looking for another property.
With all this Covid lock down it took a while to get a viewing organised on another house but it is a better proposition than the last one with a large block built garage, two car wide and plenty of roof storage space.
We hope to complete at the end of next month.

Well Covid certainly has slowed things up and I thought we would not get moved before lockdown returns. Here in Northern Ireland our rate of infection is rising so restrictions have returned. However we got moved into our new house on Monday so it has been a manic 5 days. I now have a garage and a metal shed to play with.   |

I have painted 2 thirds of the garage walls and started to put up tool boards and shelving. The garage is now home to one motorbike, a ride on Lawnmower, 4 young chickens and plenty of cardboard boxes. The metal shed is full of furniture, woodworking tools and cardboard boxes, a good few of which are now empty.    I have sourced two farm gates for the entrance to the rear yard but need to attach them properly once I have got the proper mounting points. |

 Got the fence up and just to hang the gates properly on the hinges to keep the dogs from getting out onto the road. |
