This is just a sort of a bit of a feeler (!!) if anyone and what sort of people are interested in helping.
Let me give you the scenario and maybe see where you can fit in. "Retro Rides" is effectively two business, the events side of things that takes care of Gathering and Weekender is (pending Corvid-19 outcomes) doing fine and has a number of people to take the weight of it, but does take up A LOT of my time. Retro Rides the Website, video, instagram etc. is pretty much just me and my lovely mod team (mainly rmad , DarrenW and HARDCORE on that front), until recently Jason did a bunch of work on our videos, but he needed to get a full time job . Early last year whilst running through the ins and outs for the Retro Rides Website stuff I realised we were not really breaking even for the cost of hosting the site (particularly the image hosting). Out of this came Club Retro Rides, something I'd been planning to do for a while but never seemed to be in a place to make it happen. The lovely people that have been kind enough to put their faith in us have definitely allowed me to think about what the future of this forum and website look like (including a few things that we've already done that may not be as noticeable (including the https upgrade)).
Here is the problem. I work on RR one day a week right now (plus time at weekends), I moved to working a 4 day week at my day job pretty much for my mental health. I love this place, I love the potential of this place and I really want to be able to repay the faith the club members and wider community have in RR to be pretty damn cool. I've got a whole laundry list of ideas and things I'd like to do with the forum, with the wider community, with the newsletter and all sorts of other things. The real issue I have is one of time. If you're subscribed to the newsletter you'll know that it hasn't been out in the last couple of weeks, this is because 100% of my RR time has been swallowed by other things that are higher priority. If you're subscribed to the Youtube channel you'll notice we've not released anything since Xmas, this is partly because Jason hasn't been around, but I recorded a Vlog at Haynes at the weekend and I've not had a chance to edit it (and I won't until next week now at the earliest).
So, I'm looking for collaborators, people that could put together the newsletter text each week (doesn't need to be the same person each time, I've got it down to about 20 minutes, but it may take a little longer to begin with). Or someone that can do quality video editing. Or someone that I can throw a load of folders of pictures at and they can whip them in to shape with captions and hashtags for Instagram. Or someone that could post a thread a day on the facebook groups and page for us (assuming we have content!).
Beyond that I'd love it if I could find ten or so people that could help me really fire up a blog-esque home page that is part stuff from around the web and part stuff from the forum and part original content. I have the plan and software in place, but absolutely no capacity to action it.
I could do with help updating the design of the forum. With whipping our graphics and image guidelines in to shape. With club admin. With finding deals for the club. With organising some events for the club (I have actually started this, but obviously if I didn't have to do this it would mean time for other things). The lovely edessex is doing our Retro Show stand again, are there more events we can do, can someone help arrange those?
I just feel I need more bodies and with a bit of work and a bit of planning we could make something spectacular.
I don't expect loads of people will be jumping to this call, or that people with have loads of hours free to help, but ... if I can get a few maybe that gets the ball rolling on the projects which may attract a few more ....
