In contrast to my other 124 I recently bought this '86 200D Taxi. I love its basic simplicity. No electric windows, no central locking, no ABS or any other creature comforts. In fact, the only option it has is an electric passenger side door mirror!
Its 75hp n/a diesel 4 cylinder is a symphony of indestructible, agricultural beauty and at a mere 515,000 km is barely run in! Coupled to its 4 speed manual gearbox it makes for a wonderfully leisurely old thing bursting with teutonic character.
It has all its "Taxi only" features still and I love it!
First job is to get it UK registered (its currently Polish registered) but has a UK MOT. Then some (reversible) mods keeping all its Taxi features but considerably lower altitude. Main job is to get rid of the alloys and get it back on steels - but first they have to be sent somewhere...…….. :-)
