I'm after a new st of wheels for my imp, and ive seen a set in the size i want 6x12 . The stud pattern etc is correct, tyres i can sort but what is doing my head in is the offset, its listed as +4 and ive tried so hard to work it out that I'm now confused. will they fit? or wont they? or will i need spacers? HELP!! TIA

Google " Hillman Imp Wheeel Measurement " there is some useful info there. Looks Like 6" rims would not be suitable. Remember the tyres are wider than the wheel.

Super lazy way to check if they fit is just to Google the new wheel specs with the make and model of the car. Most of the time you'll see results of people on owners groups showing that your new wheel spec does or does not fit.
at is the offset of your current wheels?

Get your tape measure out. All the +4 means is the centre line of the wheel sits 4mm "inset' from the face of the hub. If you convert the 6inch into metric. (Approx 150mm) it would mean the wheel comes out about 70mm from the hub face..

We where very nearly caught out what ever you do just measure then before you pay, we have 12 Landrover wheels only 6 fit, several have the same part number but different off sets

It will come in handy even if you never use it

According to this website: "Imp tuning & modification by J.D. Hansen: Wheel width is restricted to 5½" at the front and 7" at the rear by the space available. And there is no point in exceeding 5½" all round on a road car."

And there is no point in exceeding 5½" all round on a road car." This picture tells me there's every reason to exceed 5.5" ... ... albeit this is fitted with wide arches so more space is available. These are 8" wide but there's always the balance consideration of extra width / wheel weight has on performance vs additional grip meaning faster through corners. www.fastcar.co.uk/cars/modified-hillman-imp-on-air/

Sounds like you need an Imp expert. Have you tried any of the model-specific forums?
