9x17 and 8x17 Alzor 803s got it looking how I wanted! Were the wheels a direct fit or did you have to use adapters? Had a quick look at Alzors and didn't see ones with Merc fitment. edit: found them, in 17" flavour like yours. No 18's unfortunately. linkCheers AL. It's subjective, obviously, but I think 124s look a bit over wheeled on 18s. I think 17s are just right. As I say though - its subjective, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

Can I have your eight hole alloys John? That really is a stunning motor , I keep coming on here just for one more look😂 Really sorry Dan - the 8 holes went some time ago! :-( . If I still had them you would be welcome to them mate. I will let you know of any suitable wheels that I get in.

Never been a massive lover of modern Merc's but like a lot of the older one's, I have to say, this car is stunning, perfect stance, best wheels (IMO) and good colour, Looking forward to reading the future updates on the project, Thanks man - nice of you to say! :-)

Stripped and cleaned the grille, replacing some of the alloy strips. I've got to say I'm very impressed with the H&R Cupkit. Cabrios are tricky to lower without ruining the ride. With this kit I have achieved a 60mm front and 40mm rear with a ride that's actually better than the original Sportline set up! Great handling with a smooth and compliant ride. Using the taller R129 SL front shock top mounts give the dampers more travel so they never bottom out.

Leather has been getting a feed...….. I managed to score an original "Heckblende" A period accessory available in all red, red/orange and this red/clear which seem to be the hardest to find. Removed rear bumper to replace slightly damaged black bumper pad. Nice and clean behind.

No 18's necessary there. Carry on with the good work AL.

Stripped and cleaned the grille, replacing some of the alloy strips. How difficult is it to take it apart? I have been thinking about refurbishing mine for a while now.

Stripped and cleaned the grille, replacing some of the alloy strips. How difficult is it to take it apart? I have been thinking about refurbishing mine for a while now. Nice and easy! Once you have removed the entire grille from the car (8mm bolts from inside the bonnet) undo the single screw located on the bottom centre. Then undo the nut holding the small round badge on. Now all you have to do is slide the clips off holding the plastic grille in the chrome frame and they come apart. Once that's done the alloy strips simply slide off.

Hi. Love the wheels! Did you have to do any modifications so wheels fitted without rubbing? Ie spacers / rolling guards / extended bolts? What size tyres are you running? Looking at doing something almost identical. Many thanks!
