Afternoon all
I need to order some cable to extend from my autometer tacho to the back of my beetle.
I have had a look at various diagrams but it doesn't tell me what size the wires are. Is there an easy way to measure these or does someone have an idea as to how thick they are?
Cheers

Incase anyone was wondering I found out through autometer they use 16 or 18 gauge wire on the sport comp tacho I'm using.
Am I right in thinking 16 gauge is about 1.2mm and 18 is 1mm

Yep, that’s about right.
Surprised it needs wire that thick to be honest. 1mm should be overkill for a tacho.

Do you know the current draw? That's what you can calculate the wiring requirement from.

I’d expect it to be well under an Amp - unless it’s got an inbuilt 21W shift light!

Ok, 0.5mm or 20awg is good for 11amp. That's probably what I'd go for.

I always reckoned 1mm per 10A as a ballpark. Not stunningly accurate but safe up to about 40A or so.
