We've all probably seen the various Metro 6R4 reps that come up for sale. Usually advertised as 95% finished, just needs a few jobs and MOT. I very nearly bought one of these 4/5 years ago and am surprised to see it up for sale again, still as nearly finished as it was last time it was advertised. Without a shadow of a doubt all the unfinished 6R4 reps I've seen in recent years would require an IVA test. How easy is it to get a vehicle that has basically been shut and cut through an IVA test? Or is it just unachievable thus why they never get finished? The example I'd like to use is the Saab powered metro sat on RX8 running gear, last seen on the road in 2012 with an rotary engine.

If it's been built to pass not a problem. There's no reason why it can't be done, just depends if the builder bothered to read the manual, or even cared. Glass can be a major sticking point but I would have thought a Metro would be ok for availability.

It’s amazing how much accidentally falls off after an IVA test - most of the edge protection, radiused edge covers, nut/bolt covers, side repeaters, everything that was hidden behind the steering wheel in the exempt area, etc 😂

It's not all doom and gloom then, but definitely not a drunken spur of the moment eBay purchase either 🤔

I don't expect it's on a q plate already by any chance? Any proof of when it was built and on the road?

I don't expect it's on a q plate already by any chance? Any proof of when it was built and on the road? It was last on the road in 2012 but with undeclared modifications as the V5 has only ever stated it's a standard 1.3 metro. Does proof of build make any difference? It was in a magazine about that time. It's definitely not on a Q plate. The current owner is obviously to the IVA 😂 When it was last for sale I couldn't afford it, it's a lot more money now but this time I could probably fund it. Big risk if it's been built to a standard that's not acceptable though.

Would that 1.3 have been the rotary and not the A-series ?

The user who's name I can't remember but used to be ace advice or similar could tell you more. 2012 build date isn't long enough ago though.

IVA is not a huge issue - Its just time and money to meet the requirements of the manual - If you are capabale of doing all the work yourself then budget £1500 over the purchase price to meet IVA and you will not be far off.

This has done the rounds for a few yrs with the Saab engine in for sale , not sure if it’s ever done any miles with the Saab engine in and I’d want to have a close look at the sump if it’s been adapted to run the well at the rear ,
