	Dunno why people are trying to talk him out of it - its his car and he seems set on the idea. The GSXR1000 engined Smart makes more sense to me.

	What a gash idea for a conversion. The 1275 a series has to be one of the wankiest engines i've ever had in a car. I'd use a 1000 if i had my heart set on craning pig iron into a smart...

	Why an A series over the smart engine? It's a no brainer, for those of you into smarts, you'll know they can die anywhere from 8,000 - 50,000 miles. Honest! A mate of mine just bought a cabrio with only 8k on the clock, the engine has thrown a rod. Turbo's crack, gearbox is useless and they arn't that powerful. I want a retro/modern car with that classic Mini exhaust note! Fugging right it's a no brainer. No brain activity involved whatsoever in thinking that idea up. Surely a retro/modern car with a classic mini exhaust note would be a late ('99 or 2000) Rover Cooper?!

	Oh dear... Just sell the smart and buy a mini if you want something with a mini sound. Also... why a 1275? Why not a 1380 or a 1430? Would be a tad better, but still hopeless.

	ya know, if i had a dead smart and a rusty mini, id do it, but only because I'm big into recycling stuff i have lying around. but I'm more likely to have a crashed gixxer lying around than a useless mini. Can a turbo mini last 8000 miles?
