I've seen TD04L turbos used on 1300 engines on YouTube, so I picked up a known good one from a wrx, off a mate. But I can't get the flaming thing apart to remove the pin, so I can clock it the V band is off the hot side but i and split it, the circlip is moving and has bent my circlip pliers. Any ideas

BIG circlip pliers. I struggled but I did eventually manage with normal size ones.

BIG circlip pliers. I struggled but I did eventually manage with normal size ones. I have ordered some of these, but they went to the shelf and the cupboard was bare, so I now have to wait for a few more days for them to restock. www.eurocarparts.com/search/538771691

I got a really meaty pair of circlip pliers and then bent in the ends slightly so it wouldn't constantly slip off- you still need a screwdriver to help you get that satisfying PING sound

A massive pair of circlip pliers for the win. Well those and big hammer and some cold chisels.
