Jaguar XK8 4.0 V8 Coupe - 290 BHP
X100 Model
2001 'Y' Registration
Meteorite Silver with Full Black Leather Interior
Genuine 73k Low Miles
Timing Chain Replaced in 2019
For sale is a facelift Jaguar XK8 Coupe.
Fitted with the 290 BHP 4.0 'AJV8' engine. Sounds lovely when on full chat, but dignified and quiet when pottering around.
Over £1500 was spent in 2019 on a: new timing chain kit, oil & filter service, coolant overhaul, replacement steering rack gaitors, new front tyres and some bulbs.
Starts first time. No major leaks - just a slight weep on the rocker cover gasket, which is common on this engine. No overheating - once up to temperature, sits in the middle all day long. Has a squeak from the fan belt / tensioner.
Pulls like an absolute train throughout the rev range and just keeps accelerating. This car was designed to drive at high speeds for longs distances - the ultimate in comfortable continent cruising.
Gearbox changes gear as it should. Sports mode engages fine.
Suspension is tight and solid, with none of the usual clonks.
Brake are fine with no shuddering.
18" alloy wheels with excellent tyres all round.
I love the shape of these - they are so sleek, elegant and look like a predatory cat waiting to pounce. In my view, they are the modern-day equivalent of the E-Type Jaguar.
It is presentable and not a rot box, but it's cheap as it needs some minor TLC. Mainly, the rear arches and valance. Rust is appearing there, and it will need addressing to make it future proof. In line with the age and mileage, there are the usual marks, blemishes and stone chips. Registered as a Cat D at some point - no idea on what or where the damage was, but has passed plenty of MOT's since and drives as it should. This isn't a showroom example, but it's also 1/3 of the price! When cleaned, still looks respectable and has the grace only one of these coupes can deliver. Always get positive comments.
This is the facelift model, which has the round circles on the rear lights - which in my opinion, suit the shape better.
Interior is in very good condition, with no rips or tears. The leather has lasted very well and is of a decent quality. Slight wear to driver's bolster, but nothing major and everything else is nice, tight and solid. You feel cocooned in the cabin of one of these - they wrap around you like a glove.
Everything works as it should, but there are a few warning lights which randomly appear - Low Coolant, but the level is absolutely fine and never drops and it never overheats (usually a faulty coolant level sensor). ABS / Traction control lights also come on spuriously, so could be a wheel speed sensor. Some days, no lights are on, on others, they all appear. They do not effect the way in which the car runs, but would rather let any potential buyer know that these are sometimes present.
The prices of these coupes are only going one way, and non-runners can go for over the £2k mark. Therefore, this is an absolute bargain. Give it some minor TLC, and you'll have yourself a guaranteed future classic with low mileage for under £4k.
Comes with: 1 x Main Key and Remote Fob, 1 x Green Valet Key, Jaguar Folder, All User Manuals, Service Booklet, Most Previous MOT Certificates, V5 Logbook.
