...Nik, Richard, Rex( as Abe ), and Ralph the Wonder Llama?
For me, amongst others, that bespoke electrical connectors may be more available than you'd think ( although I haven't tested that theory yet ).
And that it is OK to spend a lot of time making a tool you only plan to use once.

Project Binky.
Top notch fabricating disguised as dry humor.
Follow the link, you'll probably enjoy watching it...

Who said anything about relying on anybody?
I've learned a lot from the people I've worked for/with, even if sometimes it was how not to do things.
For the last 10 years or so, I go to my own workspace every day, by myself. Which is great, if you are self sufficient...
It is just that with an endless supply of dramatized /scripted "build" shows on TV, it is nice to see some smart well thought out stuff like what these guys do.
To my way of thinking, they undo some of the damage that is done elsewhere. ( And I've picked up a couple of helpful tricks from them as well )
This thread is more of a credit where credit is due kind of thing...
Edit.
The post that this one was a reply to has been deleted.

I learn everywhere.
I have very little training, in fact none, but allow everyone to teach me.
This forum is also a good place for just that.

I can be pretty self sufficient for work, and generally take a tin-foil hat stance, but if I do that for too long I start to miss things as it all changes so quickly... the most pain free way of not missing things is to use a wholesaler because you bump into other sparks as well as the man behind the counter and reps. But if I do that too often I get the hump with that too, as all the other sparks seem to think their way is the right way etc (they, of course, are wrong because my way is right ) But I’ll go and have a look at Binky, heard it mentioned a few times now. And I have a lot to learn too

You can never have too many brackets ? I think the main thing I have learnt is that good builds come from people who probably spend almost as much time measuring / planning / thinking about things as actually doing things. I also learnt I needed a pillar drill with some step drills in my life. Waiting with interest with project Binky, as it stands I don't think they can get in on the road unless they go through the process that blackpopracing has gone through. James

I don't think I've had any "I didn't realise that" moments but it's still enjoyable to watch.

I'm sitting here in my Bad Obsession Motorsports "Make The Noise!" t-shirt, thinking that I learn something in pretty much every episode. Sometimes it's a technique, but more often it's about taking time to think about a solution for a problem nobody knew existed. Brackets can have more than one use, and just because something seems like a daft idea doesn't mean it's not worth doing.

As mentioned before - you can never have too many brackets and there's usually a way round something if you put your mind to it (and have the skills/tools/materials needed)
