Hello Well after nearly ten years of thinking in and planning RR Magazine is really happen, at least it is if we get enough backers. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE KICKSTARTERThe full details are in that link, but broadly speaking we are going for a quality quarterly magazine, with world class pictorials, well written feature cars, deep dives on history, as well as columns, club features, garage life and a host of other things that make the Retro Rides world what it is. We're paying good money for quality work, corners are not being cut. Out current target for the first issue is end of February (we already have about 40% of in the bag and most of the rest lined up), then May, August, November and that will complete Volume 1, and then we start on Volume 2 in 2021 ... You can back us and receive the first issue of the magazine for £10 + postage (£2 in UK £4 in europe), or you can back us for £40 and get all 4 issues in Volume 1. We also have a bit of advertising space available, although we're keeping that well managed and contained within a section of the magazine. Here are some SAMPLE mock ups of what it will look like, with the exception of the travelogue photos these are not in the final version, that is all fresh unseen content. If you can back us and make this a reality that would be great, if you can share it around your friends, social networks, all that jazz, that would be really really great. Thank you

Who is writing the articles in it? Is piston popper writing in it and grizz? Hope so. This would be great, if the mag was to be a "linked" between the mag and the forum, that there would be a forum user written featurette, with something extra not on the forum though.

It sounds good. Probably not exactly my demographic these days, but good writing often trumps the content with this kind of publication I find. I still think ‘the automobile’ is the best UK car magazine even though I’m not that into unmodified or restored cars of that vintage, and it’s all because it’s so well written. Good to see bryn and Jonny smith will be contributing, as they were contributors I remember well from back when uk car magazines were actually worth buying. For me this is the key statement- “We wish to make sure we are paying quality people to provide quality content, rather than trying to scrape by with minimal cost and deliver something that's below par, or worse, distinctly average.”
I know quite a few people who write or have written for uk magazines, and if you pay peanuts and set tight deadlines, the quality of your content suffers significantly. people ain’t gonna spend hours pouring their heart out writing and rewriting engaging pieces for a £50 bit rate. Most of the words provided In magazines these days are little more than filler, And offer nothing over the pics and a spec box.
It’s easy to find pics and specs of most builds online these days. It will be solely the words that go with them that decide if this is a quality publication or not, but I think this being produced by the right people so I hold much hope that they will do it justice.

Tbh I want to read and see cars built or modded by people without cheque books ....by that I mean cars modified or kept standard by people at home on limited budgets Whilst I appreciate concours built state of the art cars I feel that home built builds on budgets seem to get overlooked these days I only buy practical classics every month have done since I was 14 I may have a look at the RR one , but would have as others have said like to see regular posters in here featured This is not a criticism as I have not seen the content yet, just my thoughts

I'm in for the first year. I want to see high quality cars, with thought and skills behind them, with good writing as well as pictures. I much prefer the idea of a high quality quarterly magazine, than one that's more frequent but lower production values. Having unsubscribed from the Retro Car magazine now it's changed it's ethos this will fill a giant gap in my magazine reading life!

Most of the words provided In magazines these days are little more than filler, And offer nothing over the pics and a spec box. This is one of my pet peeves, if I want to know what is in a car I can find it out by looking online usually, or just at the spec box. "they lowered it on spax suspension. A while later they wanted more powerful brakes, so after shopping around found that EBC brakes would be ideal", doesn't TELL me anything. I want to know why they built it, what was their inspiration, where did they come from, what does it feel like to be in it, what does it sound like. I want all of this, and specs can go in its own box out (or its own page if it is long enough). I want to come out a feature knowing why someone built something, and ideally wishing I had done it! As for what we'll feature, it is everything from the top end of the top end of cars, to the cars being built solo in a garage on limited budget. Everyone currently writing for the magazine has been a long time member of this here forum (with one exception, but we did do a Questions and Answers thing with him years ago), all of them are professional journalists. The magazine also features a Garage Life bit, as well as hopefully some Small Torque (although we need to work out what form that takes at the moment). It is going to be a reflection of what I want a magazine about our bit of the automotive world to be, the same way our shows are (and both have third party inputs to keep it honest). I've been planning this for a long time and the people that have come along to collaborate on this have really push some great ideas. I think it will be absolutely awesome and can't wait to get it in print
