Its all those last little bits that take time but make a difference. Sadly we missed yesterdays race meeting but we have great progress. Whilst refitting the new engine a crack was found in the subframe that holds the steering rack. We found another unit and Terry seem welded it up for extra strength before fitting it. We found a fair amount of movement in the bulkhead under braking so a stopper for the master has been made and attached to the Strut top. However this believe it or not caused the strut top to move under braking. So a strut brace has been adapted to fit along with induction kit extended.

Castle Combe Classic & Retro Race Weekend – Castle Combe Hot Hatch – Civic EF2 B18 C Class B Race Report
What a whirl wind of a weekend it has been for the team. We tested the car on Monday and one of our team had a bit of a boo boo on the last session putting a hole in the fuel tank which gave Terry a bit to do before race day.
The race weekend weather was looking a bit iffy and we certainly had a mix of showers and dry weather on raceday Sunday. Qualifying was a fraught affair with a wet track for the first part and then a red flag which after the clear up was complete left us with wet tyres for a dry track and three laps to get some half decent times. We were 21st before the red flag but we managed to get into 8th before the flag dropped for race 1 and 10th for race 2 on a huge 35 car field.
Although we had a great start to Race 1 and we ended up chasing 4th place our drive shaft joints started to fail and we were forced to stop at Quarry with 4 laps left of the race. Luckily the Combe paddock is a friendly one and we managed to source parts and repair the shaft to get out in race 2.
Even though it had rained about 40mins before quite heavily we had a dry track for race two. We got a good start and proceeded to battle at the front of the pack, we had a close call on the end of lap 1 chasing Self, as we came through camp Dorrington runs wide and hits the pit wall and we both take avoiding action. I attempt to hold off a much faster Goverd in his 106 but he passes on the straight only to break down a couple of laps later. At this point we have plenty of space so we back off a bit. With about three laps to go we are in 3rd overall, I can hear the car starting to run low on fuel and she starts to lose power, this gives Self enough to catch me over the remaining laps and I can’t hold him off any longer, he takes us on the final corner of the final lap. Still 1st in class is a good result for the car in its last race with us.

Cool shots, and hopefully it will go well on Collecting Cars. I may have missed it - are you replacing this with a different race car?

Cool shots, and hopefully it will go well on Collecting Cars. I may have missed it - are you replacing this with a different race car? My next project is planned to be a rally car build this time. I have a 92 legacy shell and plan to put the Impreza runing gear and build a group N car. I did start a thread but not touched it in a while.
