EXTERIOR
Finished in the factory correct and rare Terracotta, (Code D), this standard looking RS2000 is a wolf in sheep's clothing and presents in immaculate original condition thanks to fastidious care and attention to detail. The paintwork has an immense shine and glossy coat with wheel arch apertures and the underside spotlessly clean and colour coded. Genuine parts can be seen throughout from the matching set of four Cibie 60/55W quartz-halogen headlamps and Altissimo rear light clusters. All trim, bumpers, decals and bronze tint glass are perfect. Be prepared to be amazed not just with the show winning appearance but with the exhilarating power too.
INTERIOR
Twin Recaro high-back recliners with the fish-net headrests are in perfect condition finished in Black Beta plus fabric. Matching cut pile carpets and fully trimmed door panels are in excellent condition with invoices from Aldridge Trimming. The fascia and undamaged padded dash top houses fully functional gauges and rocker switches including the Smiths Quartz clock and heater fan on both speed settings. Peer in the luggage compartment and you will see no unsightly aluminium rally-style tank, instead the fuel pump and swirl pot needed for the throttle bodies are housed in the original tank itself. A new cut pile carpet extending over the spare wheel and retaining rubber strap are present along with a jack and wheel brace. An iconic standard interior meticulously presented and fooling everyone but the driver to the extra power below!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The Warrior 16-valve conversions are usually the preserve of legendary historic rally cars and are highly desirable and very expensive that few humble Pinto engines will ever enjoy! An email in 2015 from Connaught Competition Engines, (the owners of WARRIOR Automotive Developments since February 2003), confirms this as being conversion No 0374 and the cost of this setup a whopping £24,600! Power is quoted at 238bhp at 7500 rpm and torque 185 lbs.ft at 5500 rpm. The gearbox is a Quaife Type-9 close ratio with large tooth semi-helical gears with a taller first gear and uprated AP Racing clutch to cope with the extra power.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Genuine Ford RS Ronal alloy road wheels are unmarked with logos and part numbers clearly defined. Quality Yokohama A539 185/60 R13 tyres show plenty of tread. The spare alloy wheel is housed correctly in the boot area. Wilwood Superlite 4-pot calipers grip tightly grooved and ventilated front discs and standard RS 9 inch rear drums are fitted to the rear. Perfection in all areas.
HISTORY FILE
This RS2000 Custom was manufactured in November 1979 and first registered on 4th January 1980. The first owner was the Ford Motor Company themselves. In 1989 the car was purchased by Andrew Jobson from Burton Power. His dedication for the marque and this car can be witnessed in all areas with parts painstakingly sourced, many being New Old Stock still in their Ford packets! A six page feature in Classic Ford Magazine in May 2013 explains how he eventually sold car after 23 years with it being pampered ever since in the hands of few dedicated RS enthusiasts. RS Owners Club Valuation forms from the respected late Dave Robinson and Mk2 RS2000 Guru, Alan Sherwood, are included and an Agreed Valuation in October 2016 by Hagerty of £45,000 is underwritten. The car is very well respected and is often referred to as the Terracotta Warrior due to its factory colour and jewel of an engine costing £24,600 to replace. Recent works by Wayne Mitchell Competition Engines Ltd to include a cambelt and Rolling Road Services by Emerald M3D Ltd, (suppliers of the K6 ECU), offer piece of mind this car drives as well as it looks.
MOT May 2020, HPI Clear.
