Some more parts arrived yesterday. I ordered a set of fuel injectors but expected delivery around 1.2.2020. (not that I am complaining about faster delivery) This is stolen from another forum: Here they are: These are refubished second hand units - cleaned, paired and tested.

What's the "2 way spray pattern" ?

Whether you believe you can, or you cannot, you're probably right.

2 way spray pattern is alignment of those tiny 4 holes on the injector. Those are at some angle to give wider spread pattern of fuel and help during the intake cycle as fuel spray is directed towards intake valves, at least in theory.

First oil change after 2000 km. After a short testdrive to check new injectors I discovered a small coolant leak ....arghhhh It was plastic flange on firewall for cabin heater that I probbably pressed with a removable part of firewall when changing the injectors This bit being 27 years old also did not help, although I checked it very closely on instalation.

Ordered these few bits. Leak was not clearly visible because it was not significant and flange is well hidden in motor compartment. Short video after flange changed, you can also hear smooth idle and clicking new injectors.

And I did one horrible thing. As you can see in the video I bought a Yugo, could not help myself. I bought it as scrap metal. Will be starting the rebuild in the spring. It is 1.3 efi with excellent mechanics but a bit rusty. And I finally took the car for a short drive yesterday. First time after changing the injectors. Car now runs much smoother and has way more normal throttle response. Before it was pretty uncontrolable after 3k rpm. Every change in throtle pedal position would cause wheel spin and blips of throttle below 3k would feel like kicks in the back. I know that this sounds good but when you are pushing the car it is annoying. Now it is much more linear and you can floor it without fear for your life. It does feel a bit slower but I can not tell if it is slower or more smooth but I konw that you can use it throught whole rev rage without fear now. I will time the car 0-100 km/h and 1/4 mile on first occasion because I did it before rebuild and want to know if there are any improvements.

Hello again!
Just realised that it has been more than a year without a post form me. It has been a crazy year for all of us. Some good news, some bad news, some excellent news - we got a baby girl late last year and I became a father for the first time. Browsing through youtube few days ago I found an excelent video form BMW sculungsprogramme. It explains the operation of single vanos unit on s50 b30 and tune up procedure. I wish this was available when I was in the midle of engine rebuild. This is very usefull for anyone taking apart this engine. Here is the link:

It is now becoming clear that my car thing is getting out of hand now. There is also one more yugo and bmw 530dAt. Hope that rideheight makes yugo interesting. Also past winter I decided to master the dark art of car polishing. And ordered some brake stuff. I will write up my brake work in detail because I think I found out what makes brake discs wrap.
