Smart idea. You’re quite a clever chap aren’t you? Thanks. 😃 My cleverness is tempered with extreme ineptitude in other areas. 🤣🤣🤣 You will really like Glen if you were to meet him Phil. I do not like a lot of people (hard to believe?? ) But Glen, like a few others on here can come knocking at 03.00 and the kettle will go on, and a blanket or two tossed on the couch for him. The bonus I find, lies in his thought processes and logic. I’m sure that you’re right, there are quite a few here to whom I could relate very well, your goodself included.👍🏻

I suspect I may PM you some time, as I suspect we may be in the same industry.

For those still interested in how this build is progressing…… Craig sent these this morning. The two foundation holes for the concrete pads and brick raised edges have gone down. I think the biggest problem is going to be to find some helpful people when the walls have to be raised and held in place, the first corner is a minimum of a 5 man job as the panels are a 4 man lift and carry from where they are waiting. The roof gables and panels will be a many handed affair as well. Of course finding help…… THAT is the problem. CLICK PIC FOR VIDEO. Membrane down in the Stables (now it will become a workshop and office) and first bit of type 1 to keep it in place. Trust me, it is a large piece of real estate. And then the second concrete pad will go down here. Next to the house, and be known as the shed. This used to be Craigs “Bike Garage” where he lived before. Currently stacked along the side of the house, awaiting assembly. Pity his son is in Ireland at University. Hopefully it will come together.

You have some fascinating stuff going on there. LoL I just struggle to sit still for too long. Wind and 4’C outside with rain and sleety mess means not going to work on the Rezin Rockit. So resigned myself to videos of Rally car Crashes and some other random videos dished up by the power that is Farcebrook. Oh, and some crafting stuff with Sally, and giving my range cooker a disassemble and deep clean.

Likewise, it’s cold, wet and windy in Far Eastern England. Andi had a three hour hairdresser session today, which meant that she wasn’t available to pass tools to me, hold things in position, turn water off and on etc, so I had a legitimate skive catching up here. Now she’s preparing one of her warming scratch built curries, which will make me sleepy, in conjunction with the Ruby Ale which I am about to pour, so I will probably achieve nothing today. There’s an interesting download that we’ve been watching; Close To Me, that will do me until the evening dog walking.

There’s an interesting download that we’ve been watching; Close To Me, that will do me until the evening dog walking. Weather is not pleasant as well. Just cooked a beef mince curry with chunks of carrots and cut baby potatoes, topped with a bottled curry sauce. Ate it too, was nice. Weather kept me indoors and not where I wanted to be. Sally was here and is busy with some crafting, so I helped her with preparing the materials. Printing and cutting the templates for her. I also deep cleaned my range cooker and then put all the parts in the dishwasher that I rarely use, to clean them, and also all the glass we had picked up on the beach down at the Thames river. Sorting colours and types out. And finally, ready for the dishwasher…… Once she gets the right backing pieces to add the glass and pottery to, I will report back. Maybe tomorrow will be a warmer day so that I can get down to the garage.

Was chatting to Paul Y earlier, as we hit 0’C this morning when I went out to see the osteopath at 08.40 and he had his fire on in his office too, and was headed out to chop some more wood later. I have a whole Spammy spam spam spam, no thank you, man. worth of solid wood to cut and chop up, after a friend bought a new home with original 60’s or earlier kitchen, though I took some of the shelves to craigrk two weeks ago to use randomly, I just do not have use for all the shelving.

For those interested in the continued activities at mate Craigs place in Shropshire where the horse stables are being converted into office and woodwork shop, plus motorbike storage and shop before adding a garage and workshop for his old cars……. Progress continues. Ready. Also where the shed next to the house is going. Next job will be measuring and shoring up for the concrete slab. He also needs to find a supply of cheap or free used railway sleepers. We all have our own crosses to bear. In mate Craigs case, it is an attention to,detail, possibly borne out from growing up in a family where his mother and father owned a rather large, successful VW garage and engineering shop, started as a home industry in the time of aircooled VW’s where the local dealership would send complex, impossible jobs to to be done. His mum was the machinist, and both parents had day jobs on night shift at GM at the same time. So getting it right is part of his DNA. I used to buy parts from his dad for my various Beetles and Bay window bus. Anyway……. Buying a barn conversion home, that used to be stables will always bring it’s own challenges. This week it must have exploded his head. While redecorating his sons bedroom, the carpet came up, shirting boards came away…… There is more to what meets the eye. But, this took the proverbial totally. Pink toilet paper used to fill the gap, topped by some builders caulk and painted over. You really are never to old to learn a new trick or two. Or are you?

My dad taught us to roll up sheets of newspaper to fil the gaps around the skirting to keep the draughts out when we were kids. Happy days when the ice was on the inside of the window until mum or dad lit the gas fire.

The first house I lived in here in the UK only had single glass in 2002, and I rented the dining room…… Bloody cold. Frozen glass I recall.

Ultimately, I spent the whole day indoors. At about 2.30,just as I was about to go to the garage a colleague contacted me for some help. A 39 question online test she had to write, I had done mine on Wednesday and managed to bimble my way through it to get 86% for it. Pass mark 80% So I wa delayed. Then, just as I had changed into my garage clothes mate Craig called on Whatsapp and shared some more bodgery from his new house. This time it was the sewerage system. Enough said. Once we had finished our chat, it was starting to show failing light. So I decided to just stay indoors and keep an eye on Sally with her glue gun. One piece at a time. And finally….. a very chuffed Sally. She was really shocked at just how well it turned out. No car stuff, but a chilly, yet good weekend. Work tomorrow.

I think it was a little from column A and a little from column B (survial and bodgery in equal measures).
My dad grew up as one of six during WW2 and life was tough but it gave him a lot of skills to get by which he passed onto me.
My favourtie storey of his was that someone once said to him (probably back in the 80's) that it must be really handy to be able to fix your own car and asked what started him on the road to being able to do that, he thought for a while and then said "poverty!"

She laid it out and screwed it up, then when gluing them down, realised they moved about despite the planning. Next one she will just glue down as she goes along. Chilly morning, still showing 0’C down at the garage on the outside thermometer.

Next job building a carport for the Chevy!? Thom You are not far wrong thomfr but its more a case of getting the truck into the carport as soon as the Rezin Rockit is done. Enough space side by side. I think it is the first year this truck has ever lived outside in its 21 years. And I really do not like it.

Amazingly, I have now owned this truck for a year, or 1000 miles of use.
MOT is due the end of the month and tax yesterday.
I am hoping it will pass the MOT……
EXCEPT FOR ONE THING.
Airbag light in the dash.
The steering was replaced with a non airbag sports unit before I got the truck and the light covered by a bit of tape.
Now to me, that makes sense and I do not have a problem with that.
However…….
What is the general consensus and also who has tested cars like that before ?
Thanks.

Connection of the lamp in parallel with the oil pressure warning one would fix that. And you won't need your hammer.
