Very fancy with the switchback bulbs grizz Most stuff just has the headlight bowl drilled and a 501 style bulb poked through for the white position lamp Looking forward to seeing the grill back together, and the fancy new wheels

Looks vile. Anyway. I also have switchback bulbs to put the marker lamps back where they should be. They are a Brilliant idea.

Modern transit connects use that method of hanging, with an additional thick cable thing. 05:45am, -4°, dark, sleeting, and removing one that's done 27k miles on quarries etc. You can imagine the sheer volume of swear words that I uttered. I can imagine. I have a foul mouth when stuff gets to go wrong out of my control. Thank god our winter hi vis snow suits arrived a week prior. Sparked up a fag, got garbed up and just got stuck in.

Quite some years ago we had a Ford Aerostar mini van. Had a flat tire only to discover the tire was gone altogether. The cable had broken who knows when. Fortunately i was close to home so only a few new swear words but I still wonder when it fell off, in traffic? At speed? I have no idea. Nice, this might as well have been, was so thick in crud. I had a full tool box out just to free the thing.

On my s10 you could take the cap off the rear bumper and the hole is threaded. I once found towballs for like 19 euro somewhere, possibly Mike and Frank's.

Post man dropped by today. Small parcel. After all the various opinions and input on here and elsewhere, I decided that a white front placement lamp and an amber indicator would satisfy the jobsworth, anal and anyone else whose farts don’t smell. So I ordered a set of “Switchback” lamps on Friday evening. Tried them out, and impressed no end. Once the colour matched grille is back, I will reassemble it and the clear lenses. Should look good. In the mean time I have also investigated colours for the ZQ8 wheels, they are often Silver, Anthracite and rarely gold with machined faces. I really like this look. Not sure how it will look on the truck I have. Think about it. Had a few suggestions on drilling the headlight, but that just would make my head explode, soooooo wrong for me. I am kinda gutted that I now have a pile of allsorts of bulbs, and ended up with switchbacks, but they do look great. Of course.........

So when I was wanting to test the new Switchback LED lamps, I found that not having driven the truck for the last 10 days or more, the battery was almost dead. Interestingly, dash lights came on, ignition made a Krrrrrrr ! Sound, and ultimately after fetching a second set of jumper leads, as the first fancy set were not able to bite the terminals, I got it jump started from the company car. This resulted in a new 75-60 battery for £79.00 after a 10% discount. Note the side terminals, so no throwing just any battery in there. I have no time for tired, dead or lazy batteries, so replacing was the only way. 48 hr delivery will be good to see. While I am still waiting for the shop to call back about the push fit fittings I ordered two Fridays ago for the side repeaters, I decided screw that, and found some on EBay that should be here by 08 February. Then I can wrap that job up too. In retrospect, should maybe have gone there first, but I do like supporting local business. Cheap enough. That’s it for now.

ref the wheels the gold looks great with contrasting colours like burgundy etc but I'm not sure with the colour of your truck that it wouldn't look like to many similar shades of gold and you'd be better with them body colour or something different like silver.
Just my thoughts the kids would quickly point out I have no taste anyway!

Kev I think depending on how much attention they need, I may even got for a similar colour to the bonnet, but I do like the gold, may just be too much of the same thing on this truck. Still have the Rezin Rockit to build, that could get gold wheels.

While doing the spare wheel refresh I looked at the rear bumper again. . If the truck was never homolgated in Europe for towing, you are in a bit a of a grey area regarding legality of towing - ie if a UK sold car states zero for towing capacity (Frod ka or Smart car) then you can't tow . . . US chassis "plate" doesnn't state a towing capacity (or mine doesn't) so I work on the capacity of the hitch sold for it - 4500lb in my case. Yes it is a serious problem if there is no maximum train weight.

Yes it is a serious problem if there is no maximum train weight. Of course you know it won’t stop me . I am not planning on selling this truck, just to get a random item with a towbar. The world is pretty messed up these days. Common sense died along with morality and kindness. Surely, if I was to tow a 7 ton trailer from London to Glasgow it would be no different from towing a 5x4 foot 250kg garden trailer with some garden refuse to the council tip?

When I bought the truck, there were a few little things I wanted to change. Not one of them was necessary, just a personal itch to scratch. Aesthetically I really wanted to get rid of the amber position/indicator lights. So I mentioned that I was looking for a set of clear indicator lenses to buy, preferably not in the USA Next thing, Simon Mayes from Essex offered the set from his truck as he was going to convert his to smoked lenses. So these arrived, £25.00 posted. Pleased as punch. Also on the cards were the amber side repeaters, to be done once the light fittings get delivered. After much thinking and consideration due to all the various opinions being raised, I bought set no 3 of lamps, LED Switchbacks, clear driving lights most of the time, and amber indicators when needed. I was getting quite excited at the thought of reassembling the front end. In other news, I need to get a tow ball to fit the rear step. I may have one in the garage. Photo from 8 years ago when I fitted this one to the C10, which has subsequently removed. It may just still be in my garage somewhere to be found, if it fits the hole, we are sorted on this.

So part two of the new smile on the S10’s face reported. Ross took the grille and the paint that the seller had supplied when I bought it to go paint it to body colour for me. This morning I had to be in a shopping centre, so we met in the carpark and he responsibly handed it to me, before heading to work. Massive improvement on where we started with the 20 year old grille. Stainless central bars refitted. So from this when removed.......... To this finish today. Centre bar refitted, and looking at it outside, I was again pleased. Grille refitted. Clear indicator lenses fitted. Headlights fitted. BUT.......... Wrongly placed, will need to go redo them tomorrow. Missed a side tab that would seat them fully squarely. 1/4 front view.

Don't forget - we use 50mm not imperial sizes. Unless you have a very old coupling on your trailer, it won't even fit a USA 2" ball. Suppose that would make it harder for someone to tow your trailer away if you did - but harder for you to borrow anyone elses . . .

A 1-7/8” ball is 47.625mm diameter, so undersize for a UK 50mm hitch...
Good work on the grille, that’s a significant improvement. 👍👍
