For sale is a project i bought a while ago and never got around to doing it, as much as id like to hold on and one day do it i don't think itll get done, would rather see it go to somebody who will build it! I beleive its an S2, I'm not honestly sure. No logbook or chasis number, i was never going to road register it, was going to build it as a track/hillclimb car. Chasis is in good condition, currently has a MK2 escort rear axe/diff fitted. I left this on so it can be wheelbarrowed around for transportation sake. Loads of bits, shown in the photos below all come with it. A zetec engine with gasket set, cambelt kit etc. Its missing a block/bottom end. The car is stored in Melksham, Wiltshire. I'm about 20 minutes away but happy to meet any buyer there with all the spares etc, goes without saying itll need trailering you'll also need a decent size boot for all the spares/seats etc. After £500 ideally. Any questions feel free to ask on here or text on 07564046341. Would love to do see sombody use it as a base to create something awesome!

That's a fantastic amount of car, engine, fun and interest for 500. Are you sure the price isn't too low? That little lot would make a fantastic gift for a lucky youngster. GLWTS but I'm sure it will go quick, in both senses of the word!

It's a series 3 Phaeton - as the main value is in the Escort axle you may want to find out what ratio is in it.

Funnily enough i had a Rover V8 initially that was going to put in! I ended up getting offered a good amount of money for it and sold it though!
As much as i really would love to hold onto this one day fininsh it i just know what I'm like an it wont get done anytime soon and I'm paying to store it every month!
Also i don't think the price is too low, if it had a V5 or chasis number I'm sure itd be worth more, but as i understand its a nightmare to get an old kit car road legal nowdays if it isnt registered already. I never planned on making it road legal was strictly going to be a track toy, but i now have something else that I'm currently building! (That i didnt actually want or need but it was too good too turn down!)
And id love to see it go to somebody who builds it up with one of their kids or a friend as a toy!
And thank you Darkspeed for helping identify! how would i see the radio of the rear axle? i could pop over and check it one day after work.

As long as the brakes are nice and free and not binding the easy way is to stick the axle up on stands mark both tyres at the same point, mark the input flange on the diff and then count how many turns it takes on the input flange to rotate the wheels one turn.

I found the easiest way to check a diff is : lock one hub. mark input flange, and the not-locked (free) hub. turn the free hub (counting the turns) until the input flange makes 2 full turns. number of turns = ratio ( so 2 turns = 2:1 ratio etc )

Unfortunately I have no knowledge of the history prior to me owning it, the wheels look like some old pickup steels that are inverted! To get it wider.
Still got this for sale.

I've seen it before. IF it has ever been registered then it's long gone. Dutton only chassis stamped a few of the early cars. The S3 and S4 had ally plates under the bonnet on the fibreglass

I would look to separate it out and stick it on ebay - Escort / Dutton / Zetec / Others.

If you do decide to part it out I'd be happy to help ID anything you don't recognise. Might even be interested in the body / chassis / dutton other parts for club spares shed items.
