Blimey, can’t remember the last time I saw one of these. Though tinworm had eaten them all.
Looks like a nice solid starting point. Has it come back from South Africa or something?

Nick They did love to rust! This one is from South Africa so has survived. The only rust is in the door bottoms so I’ll get those repaired for now and drive it. I’ve actually never seen another one on the road. Ever.

Greet Thanks. Engine and gearbox are good on this. And simple to fix if they go wrong and share the engine with Porsche 914/ VW bus so easy to source. It’s also pretty rust free. The major issue is parts. There’s virtually no body, rubber or trim parts available anywhere in the world.

Looks great! I bought one of these about 10 years ago but before I could collect it the council decided they were going to knock down all their garages so my storage space was gone I had already paid for it and arranged to borrow a trailer etc so I advertised it on eBay and managed to sell it again before I’d collected it. I collected it from the seller and then delivered it straight to my buyer all in one day! I really wish I’d been able to find somewhere to keep it but it all happened so quickly there just wasn’t time

That’s lovely and looks very tidy, always liked the quirky looks of the 411/412, the only other one I know of is a white lhd estate that lives in Mablethorpe and shares a drive with a Karmann Ghia.

Very nice, will be perfect if its left alone or modded. I'm sure my aunt had one of these in white years ago, I remember it sounded like a beetle but didn't look like one.

Nice pair. Are they identical shades of red? My dad had a Fastback, in orange, back in the late '70s/early '80s. It was mostly reliable, and very solid bodywork-wise. The black vinyl seats got scorching hot in summer though!

My parents had a red 1600 Variant with those black vinyl seats when I was little. Beautiful car, but very rust-prone and didn't always like to start.

Yes, I recall one incident when my mum couldn't get it to start after it had been sat in a car park for a few hours. She called the AA, but they couldn't find the engine, or the battery!

Interesting! Is this the model fitted with Kügelfischer mechanical injection, a la BMW 2002Tii?
