I think I need to unsubscribe this thread as Mr Grenade has me thinking all types of daft things to do to my F100. Did I mention that my Lexus LS400 doesn't get much used?

That is epic! Love everything about it.
The 70 F100 bench seats are hilarious. Always laughing watching my mate fly down country roads in his, occasionally hitting his head on the roof and bouncing around all over the place, his truck only has a 390 in it too haha
What sort of price did you get on the motor/box and so on, if you don't mind me asking?

I notice there are many fuel station pictures. Worth it for the smiles per gallon though? It gets fantastic MPG, for a truck anyway. 21mpg is what it does if you just cruise it. I take pictures at the fuel stations because that's usually the first test drive- Take it up there, add fuel, get diesel for the garage heaters and buy beer. That's usually the first test.
Once out on the road, I take a pic wherever I stop.  The old V8 with a carburetor? Probably 10mpg if it's running right! I had a 351W engine with headers and a high rise ally intake with a Holley 4bbl that did SIX MPG!----- SIX!
So yep- it's worth it. I put a tenner in it, twice over about 150 miles.

The low mile 15-17 mustang only coyote engines & trans are fairly high- upwards of 9k. The Ford performance controllers are about 1800. There's a bunch of small bits that go along with it. There's cheaper ways to do it too- there are high mile engines from the 11-14 F150 that can be had for 3k. It's all in the way you put it together. Same old story- cheap parts, more labor or expensive parts, less labor. (labour) My spell check says that's not right however

The 4.6L Modular V8's are super reliable. They just don't make any power. 300ish. Ford did one on a Mustang GT that made like 330bhp... YAWN.. For a 6cylinder, 300HP is good. lighter, blah blah blah. For a V8 these days, it needs to be 400 and up or it's pedestrian. Nothing special. They have to have tons of cash pumped into them just to hit 400 and really, there are far cheaper ways to go 4--500 even. The 4.6's are best left for Grannie's CROWN Victoria sedan or retired cop cars. That's the reason Ford brought back the 5.0L. While it may not seem like much- people are Coyote swapping the Fox body Mustangs along with the SN95's and now the 05+ body styles because 435 to START WITH- is pretty darn good. I love the power, but they are not without their issues as well. Same with everything I suppose |
