Just finished swapping over all the bits from old engine to new - Old engine was known to have big end bearing play and that finally turned into the clunk of death 2 months ago. Still runs, but it's buggered - Head gasket was on it's way too with exhaust fumes going into water supply so for the bargain price of 100 quid I purchased a b204 to replace it. Now I have a B234 lump with a few bits and pieces I can have for spares but I really don't want to chuck the rest - What can I do with it? I think it's too far gone to rebuild and it was at 200,000 anyway. I can weld but I really am stuck for something to do with 200kilos of swedish metal!

Unless you want to build an incredibly heavy coffee table with it, you're fairly stuck with it as it is. Are there any large ships in the area that could use an anchor? I would be taking that straight down to the nearest scrap dealer.

If the rods aren't out of the side then it's generally not too far gone to rebuild.

Perhaps your local school or technical college might want it for the kids to dismantle & rebuild ad infinitum?

200,000 miles is sod all mate. Barely 320,000 km. Both our dailies have way more than that on them. I'd be keen to strip that thing down and see just how bad it looks inside. You might be surprised.

I tend to look at things this way; In five years time ( or whatever) will finding another be practically impossible? Do you have the space to store it? As already said, just out of mechanical interest id be pulling it apart to have a look, and once you’ve started.....😃 Of course, the above explains why i have a yard full of broken cars and engines! Hoarder?Me?

In five years time ( or whatever) will finding another be practically impossible? Very good point - And the rods are not outside so it's worth rebuilding - I have an engine stand doing nothing so I will put it on that and see how things look inside. I will stick a gold plaque on the side once rebuilt with 'Comfortablynumb saved me' engraved!

Early 9000 lump? Either stash it away or part it out, should be plenty of good bits on that which could see some life again

If its got a td04-hl you should put it in the dishwasher (top shelf only) and then post it to me because I can't find one in NZ! If not then strip it to a bare block and plant strawberries in the cylinders?

If the rods aren't out of the side then it's generally not too far gone to rebuild. And if they are just use chemical metal

I was party to welding a patch over a conrod shaped hole in a Falcon six block a long time ago. We didn't fix it properly of course. We just took out all the broken parts along with the pushrods for that cylinder and slapped the head back on. It ran like a bag of ringholes for a while then threw another rod to balance itself.

If you part it out let me know, currently putting one in an MGB and the manifold at least would be good
