No but its what I thought when I first saw it. This one had a camper interior and V8 rather than a turbo Barra. In fact I posted it on the skid factory FB page and Millsi commented saying he'd just gone out to the shed to check his was still there.
Went for a stroll down to Mooloolaba last weekend and happened across a few bits of old tin. First up at the lights was this Torana.
Then as I was getting back to Alexandra Headland this big Yank tank came along. Can't say as I know what it was.
Then down in the Surf Club car park this lovely Valiant Estate was parked up. My cup of tea this one.
Well it's been great sharing all these cracking cars with you but this thread will soon be drawing to a close. The company the wife works for has been part of a US$11bn takeover and it seems her job is surplus to requirements which once it ends we will have 60 days to leave Aus. We're going to try and stick a bit more travel in before we leave so hopefully I'll have a few more additions before the off.
It's strange as I thought we'd be feeling really sad as we were almost at the stage of going for permanent residency. Instead we're both looking forward to going back home. We've got a very nice home to go back to and family & friends to see.
Completed the 1000km drive today from the Sunshine Coast back down to Sydney. Some horrendous weather to drive through but make it we did. Had an overnight stop aymt Byron Bay and another at Harrington then down to Sydney. Got the wife to snap this sorry looking Citroën.
You certainly put the meaning of “Going out with a bang” in perspective.
I am so pleased your old boss feels the way he or is it a she, does about you.
When I moved here in 2002, the SA branch of the company kept offering me a custom made job for 5 years till I said I had settled and would not return unless something big happened.
I think, often those offers are a true reflection of your value and what effort you had put in.
Well done, retrospectively and welcome back when you get back.
Morning/evening Grizz. Thank you for those kind words.. The funny thing is I only worked there for 6 months before coming to Australia but I did get on well with my boss so he obviously appreciated me. I did get a job up on the Sunshine Coast as we were planning on staying there a while. I only ended up being there for 6 weeks and they were gutted I was leaving as they had big plans for me in the fabrication shop apparently. I’ve always tried to give a fair days work for a fair days pay wherever I’ve been.
