Today acquired a rather bland blank canvas in the form of a Suzuki Baleno, a 1.6 petrol version, 5 speed manual with verified 56566 miles on the clock. Inside almost new but outside few dings to sort out. Passed last mot with no advisories and generally drives and stops quite well for its age. Anyone on RR owned one / modified one etc ? Pictures below.

That’s why RR is a great place, rare car and yep I can see potential there, usual lowering first, and wheels of your choice, then just go from there ?

yeah mercdan68 going to sort out the parking dings then gather as much info on these motors / engine is not too far removed from the Vitara lump but have to see how it pans out / hoping a RR member might have owned one or modified one / long shot but on this forum anything is possible.

id heared of the baleno, and was sort of aware of the later (facelift?) ones in hatchback form, like this But a saloon with a frontend like that is a thing i don't think ive ever seen. and its awesome, and you should do all the things to it that you shouldnt* do to a rare car. *according to boring.

It's a blank canvas in the true sense of the word as hardly anybody seems to have done anything with them. Can't say I'd recognise one or give a bog standard one a second glance on the street but Everything Has Potential. (catchy phrase that, someone should use it ) This one seems quite nice. Don't know how much has been changed from stock. Most of the others I've seen on google look a bit too fast & furious for my tastes.

It's a bit like a slightly miniature Scooby, so maybe a rally theme?

If I had that id be doing things very subtle. Lows, de-clutter, smooth and clean. It doesnt need much because its quite a nice shape to start with (imo) and unusual. A simple set of wheels too, 14's would look good, something like these Which I have

second on the blue one looking like a classic impreza. personally all this one needs is lows , wheels , de-badging/de-cluttering to create a smooth looking and confusing ride.

De badged it this morning / makes the rear look different / already two people asked what is it so going in right direction / the 4 x 100 pcd opens up lots of potential but like said not a lot of change will make a difference. Found picture on google but cant down load it of same car racing at Spa / looking not a lot visually different from a base one although thats where similarity probably ended / engine shares same G16B engine code with Grand Vitara, Suzuki Swift and some Vitaras / vague info on specs etc but most say its bland or so normal it stands out / from here onwards should be fun project

159 left on the road and about the same on sorn Is that saloons only or hatchback and saloon? If its both then i recon its likley that about 80% are hatchbacks.

I like these and Mazda 323s of same era - one of the last traditional small saloons. Why not make it into a 'Better Call Saul' TV replica?

Why not make it into a 'Better Call Saul' TV replica? You beat me to it, I wanted to suggest the same. BTW it's called "Esteem" in the states.
