I own a 1979 toyota celica TA40 , all of a sudden the fan kicks in as soon as I start the car. This has never happened before, any help appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like a short in the thermostat switch to me. That's where I would start looking anyway.

Not sure on the Toyota,but had a Mazda years ago do the same. Turns out the fan thermoswitch had become disconnnected. So, check it is connected,or if not,the likely hood is that it’s failed

Fairly sure it's a standard thing on Toyota, when the temp switch or rad fan switch fails, so as to ensure it can't overheat.
