In my daily just my drivers seat is a bucket, the passenger one i left as standard. She puts up with the nvh from the exhaust, poly bushes/mounts and induction noise but I thought a bucket seat would be pushing it. What did you get, corbeau clubsport xl? And happy birthday, been watching this from the start. Tbh that's a new possiblity. As I still want to be able to get a car seat in the front seat and there's no way id have got one in the buckets.. her indoors hasn't even sat in it. She can't see the point in it and if we go anywhere we go in her Mazda which is quiet and comfortable and not in a million bits haha They were cobra suzuka pros, it's a shame cus they were absolutely mint and looked really good. But if I'm not comfy I'm not going to want to drive it. And cheers, lockdown birthdays aren't much fun haha. Glad people have stuck with the build cus it's took longer than I'd have liked 🤣

I had a new fiesta ST for a couple of weeks a year or so ago it had some sort of factory fit Recaro sport seat, it wasn't even my lardy backside which wouldn't fit my hips were resting on the bolsters, most uncomfortable thing I have ever driven.

Funnily enough whilst browsing eloquently written vehicle advertisements (rubbish on FB marketplace 🤣) before bed last night. I saw a set of factory fit leather recaros from a focus st hiv std or whatever there called, for not a lot of money.. and thought, actually maybe something like that would be better.. but then realised they were fully electric and likely to weigh the same as a small continent like the ones I've removed do..

In my road/track car I put a set of OMP ECO buckets - I'm 34 inch waist, 6 ft tall and about 12 stone and the fit can at best be described as "snug" I took a mate to Le Mans Classic a couple of times - he's probably 36-38 inch waist and 16-17 stone - Picked him up and started the journey every 20-30 mins he added a bit more tension to the four point belts - by the time we got to Dover for the ferry he reckons his was actually on the seat - getting out required a bit of a twist and lift. Same thing for the journey from Calais to Le Mans - I found it hilarious but I am a curse word child about things like that

Sadly not much to update today.. been flat out busy with work and dealing with customers.. I did have a parcel turn up from Wuhan or somewhere. Set of 20 aluminium countersunk washers and bolts. There destined for the back arches I just hope there's enough of an angle on the washers for them to fit. Did manage to quickly get the passenger seat out so I can fit the matching pair I've got (since I ruined the drivers one making bucket seat brackets 🤣) tbf they were minging anyways so no great loss. Gave the car a proper hoover out and will chuck the wet vac in the van incase I get half hour spare tomorrow.. Speaking of seats. After the full on bucket seat debacle. I'm slightly torn as what to do. I either need a "bucket" that's wide enough for a fat un and leave a regular passenger seat in so I can take the kids in it, maybe. Possibly.. or the thought has crossed my mind about fitting a set of factory recaro esque seats from summat else.. as I mentioned above I saw a pair of focus st leathers for not a lot of money last night or maybe even some Impreza seats or similar.. I just don't want all the faff of electric adjustment and what not. Plus the electric ones all seem to weigh 1.7 metric tons each .. so the verdict is still out. I have no doubt il rush into summat completely unsuitable and change my mind again 🤣🤣 Anyways. Hopefully have more luck getting summat done tomorrow but it won't be a late one at work as I've got builders in again and will have a building site to sort out when I'm home 😠Cheers

Or keep the factory seats and just fit a harness for the driver. I bought a schroth harness for my golf that doesn't need a harness bar or out, just clips into the rear seat belt buckles.

It would be me that had become one with the seat 😂 I'm sure given enough time I'd have moulded to fit the seats, but not exactly sure how I'd ever have been removed from them 🤣

Just not sure if they are going to offer enough support for track use. Plus finding a non nakerd set for sensible money night not be easy. Then again how much track use it will get is questionable. Since it works for a day then I take it apart again 🤣

Tbh I wasn't planning on going harnesses without a cage anyways. Being pinned to the seat sliding along upside down with no cage doesn't seem like best idea (neither does being on my roof tbh but it's a possibility) 🤣🤣 il have a look into them see what craic is

I'm 6ft 1", 38 waist and much prefer the 2002 wrx seats mind.

Matt, you're in a great position (get the pun!😀)as you don't need to reduce the car's weight. I'd look at OEM sport seats from other cars. You'll probably find a pair that suits you better, more adjustment and very possibly cheaper than decent aftermarket seats. It seems to me there's always a good used selection online for sale.

I can assure you I wasn't in a great position. Being sat on the seat rather than in it wasn't pleasant 😂. But I've got a deposit on them and there being collected Monday so nothing ventured and all that.. I agree there's plenty of factory seats that offer good support and don't cost the earth... But.... See incoming update haha

Been a funny old week hasn't it.. didn't have any seats, then had some seats, then remembered I wasn't Kate Moss despite my best efforts and didn't have any seats again anyways shut up rambling... First off attempted to fit those ally washers I got for the back arches.. didn't take any pictures as I spat dummy out abit. You can't get enough angle on them. So the bolt sits at a wonky angle to the washer and they look even worse than the cap heads cock! Ordered some stainless button heads instead. Hoping they will be less bulky than the cap heads So shouldn't look such an eye sore. Wel see. Least I've got 20 ally countersunk washers to use for summat now? 😂 Figured with that written off as a bad job I'd try and give the interior a spruce up. It's pretty minging tbh. I've given the carpets a good hoover they need the wet vac tbh. But the alcantara bits are horrible on the door cards. Mouldy stained generally nasty. Let's not forget this was parked for 5 years before I got it. Set too with a bottle of this stuff. Not sure what it's got in it, but it gets rid of all kinds of nasties and the brush does a god job of working it into the fabric, also makes it smell fresh.(detailers look away now) 😂 And after working it in and letting it brew like the destructions say, this is the state of the clean cloth just from the little patch on the drivers door card 🤮 Went round the rest of it and it all came up well. Forgot to take any pics but tbh it's that dark in the unit especially through the tinted glass of the car it's hard to tell. But the grime on the cloths when I'd finished said it all haha.. So the seats. We've discussed seats, I've looked at alsorts. Fixed back buckets, reclining sport seats, factory leather from summat else. But owt I liked the look of was either silly money (Corsa vxr recaros for example). Or all looked a bit dog eared and would let interior down. Bit more digging and I found myself on made in china. The source of many a European quality product haha! Found some seats that looked the part, seemed as if I'd fit and weren't a lot of money. Except, they were minimum order of 10 units, and the grief where currently having getting anything from China via container (there's a massive backlog and price has more than trebled) put me off a bit. But then again if I wait I could make a fair few quid in the process selling the other 9 pairs (1 unit was a pair of seats).. bit more digging and it turns out they supply "German" parts company Fk.. they sell coilovers and alsorts under the same FK brand (obviously all made in china) but I actually ran fk coilover on one of my old cars and they were ok... Looked into UK suppliers of fk stuff and it turns out there's a dealer ten minutes from my house! Pinged them a message to be directed to there eBay shop.. they don't carry any uk stock, it's all "held at the factory in Germany for 3-5 day delivery" He did have one pair that he had ordered so he could have some subframes made up for off road defenders and the like. They were brand new but had been un boxed.. and then asked would I be interested at a reduced price.. fired me a picture back (could have been any of the 20+ styles of seat and colour they do) and they were only the exact ones I'd been looking at! Slightly recaro esque, look like they should work. Anyways less waffle. Excellent! Deal was done and I did the tiniest detour on my way home from work to collect. He let me have a sit in them first and they world's different to the cobras. Yea there not a race seat, I don't think I'd want to do the RAC rally in them. But likewise I won't be in agony after a 30 minute backroad blast! Or if I decide to have a run to a car show or the coast in it! Anyways actual pics of said seats incoming.. Don't get me wrong there not recaro, there clearly pleather. But all the stitching looks good, they don't wobble. And they certainly weren't recaro money either 😂 Just need to knock a couple of subframes up next week from some 4mm steel, they come with universal runners so shouldn't be too hard. Sadly there won't be any playing cars this weekend, I've got kids on my own since she's working and the house looks like a building site at minute with three rooms half demolished! Even the dog thinks the acros holding my roof up are like a prison 🤣 (any more lockdowns and I'm going to have to agree with her) Cheers!

start looking for some wider ones. Don't know if you're interested but I have a pair of Motordrive Pro4's - out of date for rallying which is why I replaced them but they're in excellent condition. I'm 6'2" & 105kg and I can sit in them all day and get out as fresh as a daisy. They're blue btw.

Now I've got my Wuhan wingbacks to go in... Then again. Can never have too many seats. Fire me some pics and a price haha

So another bit done. Despite the cold and snow soldiered into work today. Made it all way to Sheffield in 45 mins (a journey that normally takes 20) to be greeted with this 300 yds from my work. With no way past! Red lorry stuck, blue lorry stuck. Neither going anywhere. Managed to get my van in firms next doors car park and walked rest of way to work once I got to work wish I'd not bothered. Customer I was meant to be seeing today not open. Coded welders I needed for work not open. Only one thing for it. Make some seat mounts up Started by removing the tabs from the original runners so I could use these to mount them.. then using some 4mm plate I had spare (cheers Lou) made a plate to tie them all together.. yeah it's a bit overkill yeah it's adding weight when I've saved it. But there's nowt worse than seats that move about when the steel flexes. Least my welding seems to be about there, not bad for self taught haha With that done got the plate bolted down and then sat the seat in position. Got my boss to kindly draw round one of the rails so I had a reference point to work from. Then drilled the base plate to accept some m8 nuts and bolts.. And the finished article! Look like they were meant to be there, sooooo much comfier than the full buckets. And actually sat in them rather than on them and because they have a full tilt mechanism on them. I don't need to cut the back arches as I can use it like a 3 door (not sure on the legality of that come mot time but il whip back seat out if needed). With that done pulled it back out and gave it all a liberal coating of gloss black to refit it tomorrow. Need to make a matching one but called it a day at that since my feet have basically frozen (it's been 0 degrees in the workshop all day).. Sadly no news on the clutch. It's been 3 weeks tomorrow so il be phoning again. There is a bit of a development in the pipe line regarding summat else on the car. But il save that til it's happening for an update haha Cheers
