Every time I see an update I want it to be that video of you drifting round the local roundabout !!
Anyway, back in the real world, your apprentice looks to have the air of authority about her. I suspect you are not going to mess with her when she gets a bit bigger !! Good luck with that one sir.

Awesome! I loved that feeling when my car finally moved under its own power. A landmark moment! Can't wait to see a vid of it on the road 😎

Don't worry as soon as it's capable of going and causing chaos I will and il make sure to film it.. I live pretty much in middle of nowhere and 5 minute from my house there's roads that see 5 cars a day. Be rude not to use them to turn the tyres that's on it into smoke wouldn't it haha And she definitely rules the roost, she's nearly 2 going on 17! I'm hoping if I can get her involved she won't turn into a terror.. (had her sat on my knee watching drift videos this mornin haha) I'm definitely outnumbered tho. What with 2 girls the Mrs and even the dogs female think il go and live in summer House when they get a bit older haha

Can't wait to see a vid of it on the road 😎 Yeah it's been a long time coming.. still a while off that first drive but it's all progress. Was a relief to feel it move under its own power. None of the bits in the driveline have been tested by me before (they came out of a car being broken) so I had no idea if it was all going to work haha.

Think I'll go and live in summer House when they get a bit older haha From experience, the summer house needs to be around 300km away!

So it's been a few days with no disasters. Plodding along doing bits. So let's chuck a massive spanner in the works!! As I said a few pages back, Mrs started a new job in the hospital a few weeks back. Workin nights on the Corona ward of all places.. left a job she's done for the last 12+ years to go and pursue a career in the NHS... Similar money, less childcare issues, we still get to have weekends together and I get a few nights a week when kids are down I'm free to dick about with cars.. but.... She got up Thursday not feeling great but having done 2 nights on bounce put it down to that.. felt worse Friday to the point when I got in from work she said she felt like shed been run over and temp was going up (can we guess we're this is going yet)... Phoned the covid line for NHS staff they organised a test for her Saturday morning, all of us told to isolate until they had result.. Phoned back today and she's got Corona! Absolutely smashing. Luckily were both young (ish) and fit (ish) and worse she seems to have is no energy banging headache and completely lost her sense of smell.. (handy for nappies granted).. We've now got to isolate until a week on Thursday.. no problem you say, crack on with the car. The problem being if we get a breakdown my boss will need my van for the spares etc. And my toolbox is bolted down that securely it would be easier to steal my house than my box... No tools, no car time... So wel have to wait and see on that front. Did manage to sneak half hour this afternoon but tbh I'm kinda having to do everything unsurprisingly so wasn't much. Had a bit of a look at sorting battery cables out (battery is going under bonnet for now since I've got one that fits)... Also tidied wiring up inside the car and strapped the binnacle down.. it's not pretty but this will be the dash for now (once I've found the hazard switch and plugged that in haha) will be a lot easier to test everything with dash out of way.. plus I can keep an eye out for fires Anyways. Il try and get bits done were I can. Going to struggle without a welder unless I can get a mate to drop one off but wel see. Cheers.

Cheers people. I'm sure we'll all be fine... And she doesn't seem "too" bad at minute with it..
Never thought about my van being contaminated... Il tell him if he phones for the van haha.
Hopefully more later.. maybe.

Thanks.. the magnitude of my stupidity is starting to become very apparent with how busy it's all getting under there. Still need to get a humongous airfilter in somewere. Still need water pipes. Still need to get headlights back in haha. But it certainly starting to look the part! Cheers

"...is starting to become very apparent with how busy it's all getting under there. ..." - will it need some sort of heat shield on the underside of the bonnet to stop paint scorch above the turbo ?

"...is starting to become very apparent with how busy it's all getting under there. ..." - will it need some sort of heat shield on the underside of the bonnet to stop paint scorch above the turbo ? Yeah well I was planning on getting a proper turbo blanket but there a fortune in this size.. unless china can deliver me a genuine fake haha. I actually need to take some of the reinforcement out of the bonnet above the turbo as it touches slightly, but I'm not too fussed as this bonnet isn't in the best condition (few little dents and stuff).. contemplating fitting some ford rs style vents too to try and help get heat out. They shouldn't look too over top on this I don't think, and I can chop one of worse dents out and replace it with a vent haha
