It occured to me the other day I've now had my Astra 10 years, and considering it was meant to be a stop gap between Sierra's I don't think that's too bad In all that time the only major failure to proceed was the diff escaping, but I've moved into my first house with it, used it for my wedding, brought my now 7 year old home from hospital in it, my 3 week old home in it, numerous memorable road trips, pretended it was a rally car in the forestry tracks, and even though it's slow, shabby and crusty now I will never get rid so here's to another 10 years So how long have you had yours, and why is it a keeper?

Had my 16v mk2 11 years passed on the 6th of this month. Poor girl has been off the road for last 3 years, wee bit crusty around the edges but she will see the road again one day. don't know when that day will be but i have had it too long to get rid now It always played 2nd fiddle to the daily mk4's in terms of memorable journeys though, most memorable being to Ford Fair in 2013; 700miles without fault and at a good pace lol

I've had my Mallock U2 Mk6 almost as long. The day I first went to see it ( " just sit in it..." Yeah, I was sold... ) And now...

Seven and a half years. It's been with me through thick and thin, seen me through good times and bad, and given me plenty of trials of its own to sort out. It's been my only car on occasion, and it's been up and down the country in all weathers. It's got that something that transcends the reality of the car's shortcomings, that certain indescribable thing that just puts a smile on your face. It's not the best car in the world, not by a long shot, but i don't care because it makes me happy, so here's hopefully to another seven and a half years.

Coming up on one month of ownership. don't know how you lot do it. I'm always itching to get shot of a car after three years. I'm 99% certain this one will be my last retro / classic / old timer though so maybe it'll stick around longer.

11 years now - Originally bought off ebay for 300 quid as a spares car - The only car I have had that was so scruffy it was nearly towed away 30 mins after parking it in some corporate car park - they thought it had been abandoned! I bet it has some stories to tell if it could as it had been vandalised in the past and had 'see you next tuesday'** sprayed on the side, and someone had cleared it off badly. In a snow storm those letters would appear somehow due to snow sticking to where the letters once were .... A lifetime oil leak mentioned on every single MOT has preserved the underside of rust completely - even after 277,000. It's me in a car form. **shout out see you en tee at the top of your voice

I’m coming up to 16 years owning the mini, I still have a pre delivery picture still covered in its transport protection from the factory. Got no intention of selling it, spent far too much money to every get rid!

I bought my Sportshatch in 1985, from a lad who'd bought it without checking the cost of insuring it. A year later (as I'd decided it would struggle to get another MOT) I bought my Firenza, as a daily driver and a bit of an upgrade to the Sportshatch, without any plan for getting rid of the Hatch. I don't think I'd intended to keep them as long as I have, though the hatch had a holiday in Wales for about eight years until I bought it back. I struggle to part with cars, though - I ran my Audi coupe quattro from 1988 until the end of 2002, when I'd finally decided it was time for it to go and be replaced with something else. The clutch packed in on the way home from seeing its replacement, and in the week it took them to prepare the TT I was buying, I had a change of heart and decided to hang on to it, and now it's my current project. The TT has hung on since then, and turns out that now, at 19, it's the oldest car I've run as a daily driver as the two Vauxhalls were only about ten when I first bought them.

Both Golfs I are quickly approaching "longest owned" only beaten by my old 205 Rallye that I had for about 7 eyars.
Golf Plus was 5 years in March & mk2 was/is 4 years about now.
Plus just hasnt done anything wrong & it's worth so little it's made sense to keep it lol. Mk2, well I haven't driven it yet.
Probably end up getting rid of both though, although the plus has sentimental value & I would like to swap it over to mk5 gti/r32 power - but to do that I would have to get rid of the mk2, that has zero sentimental value.
I get bored to easily lol.

I wish I could be patient enough to own a car for this length of time! Longest ever is 3 years and current average is well below a year!
