Does anyone know of a source for 5-3/4" headlamps with flat lenses? There seem to be plenty of 5-3/4" headlamps, but they are all like bowls. I need both H1 and H4 with sidelight types with a "normal" rather than the fancy "crystal" lens. It's not easy to measure, but I'd say I'm looking for a radius on the lens of about 410mm. Or put another way, about a 6mm gap top and bottom if you had a straight-edge across the lens like so:

If you are after a 'normal' light but can lived with a curved glass, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Cibie lights. I have bought and tried a few lamps and with Osram Nightbreakers, they pretty much beat anything Halogen powered in that size. I have a set in my Merc 280SE and night time is not a struggle at all. Even friends who have been in the car at night have been surprised at the light output and that's without me mentioning the lights! One source of flat lens lights may be a BMW E30/E32 & E34. The lights don't look quite so blue in reality ; I'm also still running the sealed beams underneath. I've not really found a reason to go over to the H1s on the bottom yet:

Thanks ChasR! I did consider the BMW lamps, but they all seem to have the distinctive "smiley" feature on the inners which I think would look silly on anything other than a BMW. Good call on the Cibies, very good lamps. Too curvy for me sadly

Good call on the Cibies, very good lamps. Too curvy for me sadly Smiley is on outers. Interim lights (1987 for E30, 1988-1990 for E34) before they went full smiley were just projector, with a dark centre but reflector elsewhere. Pre-87 E30s have non-projector lights, but they are curved. The smiley, or interim "bullseye", are flat or close enough to satisfy your 6mm ruler rule.

I did acquire some flat faced ones many years ago but can’t remember if they were E30 ones or off a Capri?

Ooh, if you see one would you be able to put a straight-edge against it for me and measure the curvature?
Do you know if they are still available new?

If you're interested in E30 lights I have a full set (4) that are surplus to requirements. Can't remember if they are 'smiley' or not, away at the moment so can't get photos.
