Hi all this is my first thread here so I'll start from the beginning. All started back in April when I first saw the probe for sale and knew I loved it. Fast forward 5 months and I'm on my way down to Newcastle to pick it up! Early start in Elgin  Arrived in Newcastle  Met at the station by Andy who took me for a lovely test drive and allowed me to have a good test drive too. Before heading back to his to deal with the money business and for a cup of tea And first pics of the probe in all its glory    Currently Staying with friends before the 300 mile trip back up north. Will write a better spec list and the likes then. |

I love a Probe, one of very few vehicles I regret selling. Only slight negative is the fact the two-litre tends to have cloth rather than leather interior and not the bells and whistles of the 2.5, but it's all interchangeable and so cheap. In fact, I can't believe how cheap even the v6s are now, I've been seriously thinking of getting another one.
Sunroofs rot, btw. Check very carefully cos it's not always immediately obvious

And has the full black leather Interior fitted too |

So left early this morning from newcastle and headed back home to sunny Elgin. Arrived home with no hiccups. First thing first was to change the gear knob (Sorry Andy!) as i didn't get on with it on the journey home  after, changed it to one from my old ford puma for now  also took apart the air intake to see if i could find any leaks as to see why the car was hunting for idle at times when stationary when hot.  whilst I was there decided to change the air filter with another one I had lying around as it seemed a bit cleaner than the old one!  And here is the spec list of the car copied from the old add 2.0 16v on 118k American Spec Headlight lids Sleepy eye headlight mod Front Laguna/Espace splitter Matt paint with lace (spider web ) painted roof. Clear side repeaters -30mm Suspension (shorter coils) 17" Steel wheels (tyres have loads of tread) Various dress up bits under the bonnet Black Leather Interior SS door sill trims Short Shifter Ice Set up: JVC Head Unit replacement front speakers, 6x9s in the rear. Plans are to change the cam belt, water pump etc and to secure some of the interior trim. also going to remove the tow bar as i wouldnt need it |

Thanks Andy, I know will pop past next time I'm down your way! Right todays updates, started with standard steering wheel  Remove lower sticker bombed panel  Remove stickers  Refit Panel and new wheel and boss  Don't plan on using the tow bar on this, so this is before  Remove said tow bar  Much better and cleaner looking I think.  |

Looks better without the tow bar - I only fitted it to tow my camping trailer. Worth advertising on UKPOC as someone might want one - the going rate was about £20-30.
The early steering wheels are sought after too - the later ones don't have the perforations in the leather and are less desirable.

Not updated this for a while so lets catch up, Fitted a NRG quick release wheel kit, not too sure if i like it or not, with the added dish has made the wheel a lot closer now   Next up i refitted the standard airbox, and managed to sort out the over reving issue, now idles lovely  Fitted a battery clamp to make it quicker to disconnect the battery  Had a little fun with a spare key i got made up   Ive also been actually driving the car too  And next to the daily  Next plans i decided the rear seats in the probe are useless, and I will never have anyone sat in the back. Decided I would delete the rear seats and create a false floor covering up where they used to be. Began stripping the interior, which I stripped the carpet too to sort out a few bits of wiring I was routing.   Saw that some of the sound deadening had been removed from drivers side, decided to replace this and also add more throughout the car. Got a good deal on 40 sheets of a4 so went a bit wild.  And a garage picture with a friends s14  I Have deleted the clock and cubby hole from the centre console and have got a friend to mill me up a new panel for switches, not finished yet, but this is how it looks at present  Also at the same time he has polished up my new knob (oh matron), its a ford puma gearknob  This weekend have got a list of jobs to do, so will hopefully update with the new bits! also been gathering parts to do the cambelt and waterpump etc |

So after a busy weekend got a few more bits done, Starter button mounted, going to have two more flick switches next to it, for position one and position two  Got the rest of the sound deadening fitted, routed all the new power cables, went for 4 gauge, and routed new rca cables to headunit. Opted for a cheap ebay special single din headunit with bluetooth and a 3inch screen for a reversing camera that the missus bought me fora birthday last year.  Rear bumper bolts removed and finally free! Shows the cars many history of colour changes!  Rear camera fitted and new number plate lights fitted due to old ones not working, excuse the chipped paint, will touch it up at somepoint!  Headliner has been removed as I have a small leak on the passenger side, I took the whole sunroof assembly out, and saw the probes unique feature of rusting on the sunroof! got it all cleaned up and bolted back up again. The previous owner already fitted a fibreglass sun roof. I believe the leak is coming from the rear window on the passenger side, so will get some sealant and seal it up. Plan is to wrap the headliner in faux suede fabric, will also wrap the a,b and c pillars too.  And this is where we are at at the moment with the install. excuse the temporary wiring, only postioned to make sure it works. Plan is to create a new false floor that will cover up where the rear seats sat. The rear seats were pointless for passengers anyway! Need to do some measuring and buy some wood and see what I come up with. The whole install has been less than £150 which includes, Headunit, 4 gauge wiring kit, 40 sheets of sound deadening, 4 channel ebay special amp and various connectors. Previous owner already installed rear 6x9's and some upgraded front speakers. Sound quality is a huge improvement on stock. Also managed to source a black interior for the car so that will be getting collected next month when I head down to Englandshire. Car is slowly coming together, Once the interior is sorted will begin work on the exterior. The starter motor has started sticking a little so need to investigate this also when I get a chance. |

The passenger side rear window was removed and resealed, it wasn't letting any water in after I did it. Check the drainage tubes from the sunroof, they might be blocked.
The sealant in the footwell was taken out as it was cracked and lifted - possibly from the heat when welding the sills.
It's weird seeing the car in someone else's hands after 10 years. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Thanks Andy, good to know about the rear window. Not had chance to look into it yet. Managed to get the headliner covered  got the old interior refitted, still got the rear floor to extend to where the seats were fitted  and test fitted the new ignition panel, just need to get it wrapped up to match,  |

picked up a strut brace so fitted it up for now  Plan is to relocate the battery, so wiring has been ordered to run it to the boot instead. then I can finally finish the interior false floor. Old grey dash removed with no issues   will refit an black dashboard over the next few weeks. Also looking at sorting out a few jobs and wiring up the starter switch Also painted the needles red on the clocks first pic is mid way through   |

Right time to get up to speed with whats been doing on. Due to this nasty virus thingy, half of my interior is still down in manchester so will need to get it once all of this is over. Started fitting the black carpet and black interior   Finished relocating the battery to the boot, Still need to finish the rear seat delete   It moved! to be the work horse to do the shopping  Did a coolant change and flushed the system Time to change the valve covers colour  Cover off  Sprayed with high temp wrinkle paint, and baked in the oven, then sanded down the lettering  And back fitted again with new valve cover gasket  |

Update time again! So during lockdown decided to finally paint my garage and finish putting up my tool rack, this is halfway through   fitted a new horn button off a scooter, Hard to notice so feel it blends in well  after a 6 week wait for the windscreen to be made and ordered finally got it replaced  my friend rolled his type r so managed to pinch his side skirts for a crazy idea that i had, seems to work. Car will be getting some wide arches so will hide the short part on the rear arch  Ducktail spoiler arrived from Poland! will get it fitted properly after Ive painted the car again   finally found some left over wood in the garage so finished the false floor    Just need some acoustic carpet to cover it up And finally after a search on gumtree, couldn't believe my eyes as i found a 2,5v6 probe for spares 20 miles away from me! Guy was going to use it for banger racing but decided to sell some of his collection. It has been off the road since 2013, but still starts on first crank, 100k on the engine  got it delivered and after washing some of the poop off it  and what we have got it for  plans are to remove some parts from it this week, then take the engine out next weekend. Will be a few weeks until it is in my probe as going to change all belts, water pump etc |
