For sale on behalf of my Mercedes Specialist, is a high mileage and original S124 Estate:
They have been looking after the car on behalf of the customer for the past 16 years. It's had anything its ever needed, and that shows with how well it starts and drives. Customer has bought a newer model, and sold it to them, who have asked me to shift it on, as they are useless at advertising, and it will otherwise just be sitting in their workshop. It is now in my possession and I will be using it to smoke around in until it sells.
A proper Mercedes from their granite and golden era.
M102.982 / 2.3 Litre / 4 Cylinder / 8 Valve / 134 BHP / 205 nm Torque
Starts on the button. Idles in the correct manner. The engine is lively for its mileage and pulls well throughout the rev range.
The 4-Speed Automatic Gearbox works well and changes as it should.
Suspension is solid, with no knocks or bangs. Soaks up all manner of roads bumps as if they don't exist!
Brakes are sharp and stop the car well.
The drivetrain is generally spot on, and it is a lovely old bus to waft in. Cruises happily at above motorway speeds.
Bodywork is as you would expect for this age and mileage. It's not new, but not horrific either: front wings have corrosion, rear arches are bubbling, NSR bumper has a crack, tailgate has some rust bubbling, and there are the usual dents, marks, blemishes and stone chips. Having said that, I doubt it will take much to spruce it up, or just use as it is. One front wheel trim is different, due to it being stolen. These are £15 each on eBay for a used one, so not a big deal.
Interior is good considering the mileage, but the drivers seat bolster has worn and the seats would benefit from a deep clean & shampoo. Nevertheless, the cabin is pleasant place to sit and those seats are amongst the most comfortable in any E Class model.
The rear seats fold flat to give a van-like loading capacity. Alternatively, there are pop up seats in the boot, making this a full 7 Seat model with additional seatbelts.
Has had a replacement ignition barrel, with its own key. The other keys unlock and lock the car from the passenger door only. There is no stereo. Sunroof does not work (could be fuse or relay). Low washer fluid warning always on, but is due to faulty sensor. Washer bottle is full and the washers work as they should.
Comes with: 3 x Keys, Mercedes Folder, Original User Manuals, Mercedes Service Booklet, Old MOT Certificates.
To conclude, this is a solid old classic Mercedes estate, which can be used as a daily driver, work horse and spend a few quid to bring back to its former glory, which wouldn't take too much. Personally I would just use as is. Ideal as a parts donor car once you've had your use out of it, as some parts are becoming expensive to source on these.
