Right, it took me some time to find these bad boys, but man, it was so worth it!
So, what can I say? These are a set of 'Mexican Hat' Style wheels made by ATS Wheels. As a result, they are KBA stamped, so they can be used legally in Germany with no dramas, they are still straight and for an alloy wheel of their time, surprisingly light! They are lighter than the stock steel wheel on the car. Maybe this is why my Merc drives so well on these.
So, what about the dims? These are as follows:
-ET28
-7J x 15"
-Fully refurbished less than a year ago in a high-power silver with a polished lip
-Regularly coated in Collinite 476S Carnauba wax for protection
-Nearly new 205/65R15 H rated Falken ZE914s fitted all-round ; These are dated 2018, and are not your typical part-worn 'new' tyres. I bought these brand new for the car and they have covered 2,000 miles in my ownership, still on a full amount of tread.
-New Genuine Mercedes Centre Caps fitted
-M12 x 1.5 x 30mm alloy-wheel bolts supplied
What's the story behind these?
When I bought my W108, I really wanted a set of Mexican hats over the factory wheels. However, I wasn't sure about sticking with a 14" rim and the very expensive rubber (and hard-to-get hold of rubber unless you go commercial), and I wanted a little more rim area. The new Chinese wheels were tempting, but they don't quite seem to have the dish I wanted. Enter the ATS Bundt kits. With sharp spokes, and a polished lip to show that rimmage, I knew I had to have them!
But, it's time someone else got a rare chance to get an awesome set of wheels.
£800ono is what I am after ; I know I struggled to get a decent set for under that once tyres were on, with many vendors wanting more than my asking price for just the rims alone!
So, who wants them? .
