for sale
1964 Chevrolet corvair coupe 500 (base model - no chrome) 3 speed manual flat 6 air cooled - is uk registered with a V5 in my name - came into the uk mid 90's and last on the road in 98
has a hydraulic set up fitted which allows front/back left /right up and downs, all frames and suspension have been blasted, painted and rebushed. one of the hydraulic pumps needs attention as it isn't pumping - think its the failsafe pin between motor and pump - its a rayvern kit.
body hasn't been hacked about for the hydraulic kit, it all fits within the subframes (bar 2 x tubes for the rear rams that are welded in) and could be easily converted back to standard (most of parts included)
body needs work, its had floors and what not, still needs some involved work around c pillars, front & rear valances etc. door bottoms and front of bonnet are rough
included in sale is a body chop from another car to help with repairs around the rear screen
front screen is cracked, but are available from glass guy in London
has front and rear seats, but no carpets, door cards or headliner
needs lots of work, and doubt it would ever be a minter, but would make a great rat and looks ace when its slammed right down
virtually all the parts are there + various parts from another I broke, and these cars are well supported by specialists in the states, a company called clarks corvair sell just about everything, corvairs are also well supported with manuals, parts books, forums etc, and are really easy and nice to work on
a interesting aircooled alternative that's cheaper than a Porsche and more interesting than a beetle!
has all the bumpers etc, the metal things bolted to the front and back are from when it was mounted to a spit
collect from York, will fit on a 16 foot trailer, its about the size of a Rover 75, would need a van / large estate car for all the parts/spares
the suspension is currently choked up with little blocks of wood so its at a sensible height and it pushes easy
* sold *
fairly genuine reason for sale - I also have a 62 turbo version, which is a running car and I just don't have the time for this one
