Picked this up last weekend for my allotment. It seems to work well. Bought it off a nice guy from Leicester. Initially the plan is to give the tines and ploud and other attachments a good clean and then some zinc oxide, followed by some paint. then start to clean the upper part of the machine. Possibly a belt replacement as the current one has seen better days.

Anything anyone could suggest to do as far as maintenance is concerned I'm all ears.

Funny, I've just picked up a auto culto rotavator with a Villiers engine for the massive cost of£1.20. Of course it doesn't run, the engine is in bits, but yours looks much easier to handle, mines huge and weighs a ton! I'll post some pics when my wonderful phone let's me

Hi, Weight is a good thing, the lighter machines tend to just dance about on the surface.

Maybe, but not when you're trying to lift it into the back of a range rover! 😓

Hi, Ahh, that's a transportation problem not an operational problem. Colin

That’s a beast!
This weight weenie ways about 50kg
I’m going to transport it to the allotment on a bike trailer during the dryer months.
I need to find a manual for it so I know where things like the oil and dirt stick are

I'm tempted to clear coat it as well

If you use it enough, the soil will keep it polished 😀

The number on the engines is looking a bit worn. The main issue I’m having is starting it. It fire up eventually but takes ages. Lots of pulling the cord and nothing much happening

Finally cleaned the carb and will only use Shell gold which has not ethanol, added. Made a world of difference - to the MG too

I think there is some user error on my part. The handle seems to be missing from the choke. So I’m try to start the engine with the choke all the way in. I’ll have to look in the car car, maybe it came off during the journey home from picking it up.
Either way I’m not sure how to get the choke out or find a replacement handle for it
