Huzzah! After a break since 2005 its nice to be back behind the retro wheel. This sent going to be the final look. Some body mods to come and a good old fashioned lowering (obviously), new wheels and some graphics. But still...

Nice! Rare too! I wonder why Peugeot decided to market this as the Coupé when it's a hatchback?

A Peugeot 104 5drs was my first car I could legally drive. And driving I did. I went everywhere in that thing. I was at uni so no money for maintenance so only oil top ups and that was it. After a year of use and abuse I sold it to buy a Visa. I should have kept the 104! That was a much better car.
Yours is quite rare with the small square head lights. Most have the bigger head lights.
Keep us up to date mate.

Not really. Coupés are 2-door cars with rearwards sloping roofs* occasionally 4-doors. *As distinct from ' fastback' which has a (rear) roof to bumper-line slope. I'm sure there are other hatchbacks which are referred to as coupés when really they're not.

God I need this. NEED IT.
I've had a few S1 rallyé's (still do) and always wanted a 205 GTI engined 104. I genuinely prefer the shape to the 104 over the S1 106.

Nice! Bookmarked. Mi16 it? You'd think that would be doable but it actually requires modifying the entire front end of the car. No one does it as you can get nearly the same power from the XY engine for far less effort. The engine in this is actually an XY8 from a 205GT rather than the 104s XY7. It's also been converted to use later TU liners and pistons. This will also have a group B 8 port head with twin 40s and some other trick stuff that will result in about 110 BHP, hich should be plenty in a car that makes a 205 gti feel floaty by comparison.

Sounds great, the Mi lump would probably ruin it anyway with too much power.

The MI is old hat now, you can get a lighter J4/JP4 16v engine a lot easier and they can be tuned very easily. that said, I've had two 16v rallyes, two 1.3 8v S1's and a 1.6 8v S2 and the 8v's are still my favourite!

Looks interesting! The description is equally intriguing. This really does raise the discussion of the definition of a coupe. Besides what was mentioned earlier with roof lines, i also thought it depended if the rear window lifted to make it an entire hatch or if the window stay fixed and the boot lid just lifted. As others have said I know car that are coupes and have been described as hatchbacks, and I know cars that are hatchbacks and described coupes. I've played both cards - down the pub its a coupe, on the phone to the insurance, its a sensible hatchback
