Selling my mk1 Golf as I have moved and lost my garage as a result.
Purchased by myself on 23 June 2009, bought on the spot due to the low owners (I'm the 4th owner), low miles and no rust in the usual suspect places. Also drove nice thanks to the koni adjustable shocks and springs and well maintained motor.
At that time I had a few VWs as they were my hobby from as soon as I could drive. A few months after purchasing, I parked the car up with a view to come back to it once I'd got the modifying bug out of my system as it was a little too nice imo to mess about with. However, we're 10 years later and the mk1 has just been sitting in my garage the entire time. Now that my storage space has gone, I'd like to move the car on as I don't have the same bug I did and would like it to go to someone that can enjoy it and make some memories in it.
The mk1 is as I bought it, mostly standard with a few extras/90s specials. Koni suspension (shocks and springs) as mentioned, ancient Alpine headunit which I may or may not be able to find the fascia for - I'm sure I have another lurking around so I can put that in, it does have a "stealth shelf" with 6 x 9s it works fine and is in good condition but I think the weight of it is what led the boot strut to no longer stay up, it has electric windows, alarmed/central locking with keyfob (2 keys)
Car has a manual choke and is a 4 speed which are a bit of a novelty these days. The car ran really well before I tucked it up, I have not tried to start it since I'm not entirely sure of the process after such a long lay up. I don't think it'd take much to get it back on the road, some tyres, new fluids, a going over of the carb and you should be good to go. Service items are really cheap for these but I have a box of service bits that you can have with the car. As I say, I don't have the bug for this anymore and with it on the drive, my partner is having to park halfway down the road and she isn't best pleased.
The paintwork is not perfect, it has picked up a couple of small dinks from the garage (thanks gas man) and it had a few small blemishes that were there when I bought it. The passenger wheel arch is also showing its age a little. I have a link available where I have tried my best to capture these which is I can send to anyone interested, just send me a message. It also contains close up of the sills/boot/front and rear valance etc to show its all in very good shape.
Unfortunately, I didn't receive any history with this car when I bought it, couple that with the fact that I bought it and stored it almost straight away means I have nothing to add to the missing history. Please come and have a look for yourself though, I'm more than happy to answer any questions. Only a few years until this becomes exempt from MOT.
Please note - I have dropped the price as I would like this out of the way now, this price is without the BBS and comes on 'baby g60' (14") steel wheels. I'll update the pictures asap.
Not interested in part exs or swaps thanks, if I could have the luxury of a second car, I wouldn't get rid of this for anything else. I would say no timewasters but I think its inevitable!
I'm not sure if the pictures are uploading but here is a link to alot of photos showing the paint defects and also showing that the usual problem areas are good:
