EQUIPMENT
Two rear wide opening doors with safety glass windows and automatic check rods, sliding side windows, curved safety glass windscreen, double dipping headlamps, washable headlining to cab, large door pockets, full width facia shelf, interior light, electric horn, sun visors, heater, two-speed windscreen wipers with flick-wipe, fuel gauge, warning lights to show flashers hazard lamps working, headlamp high-beam, low oil pressure and no charge, mixture control.
EXTERIOR
This professionally restored Mini Van is finished in Old English White and presents beautifully with a bright uniform finish. Rebuilt in 2008 by Mini specialists, Mini Classics of Worksop, this example has undergone a full restoration and subtle modification, all documented both photographically and in the history file. All panels are sound and the underside is well presented in body colour with no excess underseal to hide important areas for inspection. The body still has the correct punched steel grille front panel, external door hinges and hinged roof vent. A lovely yet miniature slice of motoring nostalgia, a guaranteed recipient of fond admiration.
INTERIOR
A touch of somewhat luxury from the utilitarian interior the vehicle was born with! Seats have been meticulously reupholstered in period correct Monte Carlo Tartan vinyl that is used throughout the 13-piece re-trim set. A special Mini Van carpet set has been fitted and remains as new, even extending to the very clean rear load area which is correctly painted in body colour. Tasteful touches such as the wood veneer and chrome steering wheel and upgrade oval instrument cluster tie in nicely with the overall subtle theme. Delightful.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A 1275cc A-Series engine offers a welcome power increase from the standard 39bhp that the original motor was rated at. Bonnet up exhibiting is a must with everything beautifully cleaned, refurbishment and detailed, yet retaining all of the classic aesthetics that the iconic A-Series deserves. The spritely performance easily keeps up with modern standards and the tight handling and raspy exhaust note are truly addictive! The four-speed gearbox with full synchromesh operates well and this Mini Van certainly drives as good as it looks!
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Smart 4½ x10 inch Minilite diamond-cut alloy wheels with gunmetal centres are as new and shod in matching Falken 165/70 R10 which are virtually unused. Retaining the 10-inch fitment means no invasive cutting of panels has been undertaken and allows the easy return to original steel wheels should the next owner prefer the more standard look. Genuine Cooper S 10inch front discs are upgrade from standard and are certainly more affective than a fully laden van with the original drums!
HISTORY FILE
This Mini Van was first registered on the 4th September 1969 and luckily managed to survive its hard-working past and avoid the fate that so many commercial vehicles face, destruction! The comprehensive history file covers the restoration that was undertaken in 2008 by Mini specialists, Mini Classics of Worksop. The file also holds many invoices for superior parts from reputable suppliers and there is also photographic documentation of the rebuild on CD rom where the van was stripped back to the shell and sandblasted before a professional repaint. During strip down, any defective parts were replaced or refurbished before careful reassembly to the beautiful van you see today. Owned since 2012 by Mr and Mrs Jeynes, this Mini Van has formed part of their collection of classic cars and motorbikes and is now available to the next fortunate owner who will benefit from a fastidious and expensive programme of restoration.
