How good is etch primer? Ive got this stuff to stop bits rusting on my mini while I'm restoring it. Now, plan was to do it in 2k epoxy, but while I'm doing little bits, ive covered teh floor mostly now in etch. I'm wondering if i should take the time to rub it all off now and use 2k epoxy on it, or weather to just leave it?
I'm going to get some of that upol raptor stuff, it seems to be good to cover it with.
thanks

You don't say what you are doing - i.e. what areas of the car - if you are intending on applying raptor do I take it that you are treating the underside of the car - if so you should just be ok with just the etch primmer on the underside if you are going over it with raptor - personally though I just don't rate this stuff - you would be miles better off applying a proper underbody wax treatment such has Dinitrol 4941 or one of the Bilt Hamber range of underbody waxes

ah sorry, the car is upside down now, I'm doing final welding , its the floor. I just looked at that 4941 , is that an over treatment for the raptor? I plan to stone chip it, turn the car back right way up, then do the body work paint etc, when done , use dinitrol all over the car where i can!
whats best way please?
thanks for the reply.

Do the raptor first. Then wax over the top if you want. I've not found a tougher stone chip coating than that stuff. The raptor can go straight on the etch primer.
I'd prefer body colour raptor with clear wax over the top if its a road car. A bit down to personal preference tho i guess.

Fortunately the car is white so I'll just get some white stuff and see how it matches the original Austin white it's a mini advantage
Thanks
