Hi all,
Last year I chose to give up my company car (2016 Skoda Superb Estate) as it was costing too much in tax and I had to be on the fuel scheme so was approximately £500 a month in tax. I sold my motorcycle to buy the wife a Volvo V70 2.4 as her car/tow car for the caravan.
I then purchased a 1995 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign and converted it to LPG. I love the car but with the low roof line and high rear seat getting the 2 year old into the rear facing child seat was awkward to say the least. Picture a torpedo being loaded and that's how I had to get him in.
So I purchased a 2003 SEAT Leon Cupra R as spares or repairs, sorted loads of issues, discovered its stage 1 tuned fitted an Audi S3 leather interior and use that as a daily. The Jag is on classic insurance now.
My issue is I prefer the Jag, the SEAT is bloody quick and a laugh, but I have a TVR Chimeara for speed thrills. Also the wife refuses to drive the jag so if her car breaks she can't use the jag. She says its too big to park.
So, I need a fast but comfy/luxury family car, a mixture of jag and Cupra R. I like estates but would be happy with a hatchback. A saloon is a no go because of our little dog. All I can think of are Volvo 850/V70 T5's but my wifes 2003 V70 2.4 has put me off. Its comfy but bland. I need to cut down as I have to park one of them in another street and obviously all the road fund licenses, MIT etc are stacking up.
Diesel or petrol I'm not worried.
I'm thinking Sierra estate but I know I would end up putting something interesting under the bonnet.
Any suggestions? With the Jag and SEAT sold I would have a budget of about 2k I reckon.
Thanks in Advance.
