Love a good nova, not many left these days. I used to have one with a red top in (plus a couple of others) and I also love the way you can flip hazard switch upside down that gets all the electrics on in them.....won many a pub bet with that one. Looks awesome mate and great to see one kept lovingly on the road!

Yes, mega bucks. I went to look at a red one in 2008 before i bought my 16v mk2. It was as mint as a road going one could be but still ropey enough to put me off buying lol

They really are mega bucks, as with so many hot hatches that we used to buy for “banger prices”!! I just wish I’d had somewhere to keep all of them over the years......I could retire by 40 haha! Haha too far gone for how much they wanted I assume?! Ooh a mk2 golf I’m assuming from your name......is there a thread on here for me to drool over please?? They’ve gone silly price for a while now, I had a 1.8t mk2 that I still miss almost ten years on 😢.

Definitely, I had a Sorrento Green 205 Gti, on G plate with the grey leather and black carpet; £12k approx now..... Golf threads are on the mk2 owners club site! I hope to 1.8t my mk2 2.0 8v one day, keep threatening to break up the 1.8t mk4 I have, but having owned it 10 years this month, I couldnt live with myself if I killed it off, unless its gets smashed up by my wife!

Hope you're been able to enjoy some Nova time recently rickygolf83 ? One of my last trips in mine was so well received I was sent actions photographs... ...Bah not one word of how impressive It was that I was able to hit the apex of the corner, just a demand for money because my tiny car is killing the planet! Sadly 'they' have left me no other choice but to bring an end 14 years of ownership *no idea why pics don't appear???*

*no idea why pics don't appear???* on my browser it says "performing a TLS handshake to www .zen327261.zen.co.uk...." since a few months ago the forum forces all hotlinked images to be secure versions (https) and if they arent, they don't show up

Sorry guys, haven't been on as much as usual as working from home and cant risk the laptop getting bogged down with my browsing! Basically a stay at home dad now which you can imagine is challenging with 7 & 2 year old boys, wife had covid, been to hell and back but moving forward again.. Nova has been out, i think 3 times since october 😑 i am due to get a new garage built in the coming weeks and can then get into the jobs that require bone dry conditions lol My mate is up for helping to put another engine in it at somepoint, possibly sacrilege i know, but if it is staying with me, sr/gte like performance in its original guise would be great... Few pics, first one outside my long dead grandas old house where my mums Antibes would have parked at somepoint back in the day lol Was thinking of adding my mk2 golfs on to this thread too, but probably a bit too much info on the one thread Thanks for your interest folks!

This one when someone came to collect some wheels from an old merc my mate and I had briefly Note to everyone; never consider a £250 merc, even if it is a 2.3 Kompressor with full leather lol

Said it in the van thread, but when you are striving for a unique vehicle or standing out from the crowd it used to be modifying. these days the thing that makes it unique is NOT being modified.

No, my Nova is still with me. Still makes me smile - Last week was the first time in months since it was fired it up which made many of the neighbours run to the windows to see what was making the noise of a jumbo taking off!
As much as I dearly want to keep Norris Nova I cannot find any way (except move house) because of the ULEZ. I even looked at buying a small scrap of land somewhere outside the M25 to keep Norris so I can enjoy a blast around some B roads every now and then. The reality is I'm gutted & angry but I have no option other than try to find Norris another home

Said it in the van thread, but when you are striving for a unique vehicle or standing out from the crowd it used to be modifying. these days the thing that makes it unique is NOT being modified. Very much this. It's so rare to see a Nova which has made it through the 90s without being modded beyond recognition. The 1.2 can provide surprisingly decent performance when running right. If I had the room and opportunity it's a car I'd love to own, but honestly that interest would evaporate as soon as the original engine left the picture. Obviously though it's your car at the end of the day so it's entirely up to you what you do with it. Whether it makes any of us sad at the end of the day is pretty irrelevant.
