Lovely car, good spec and my favourite colour..... due to it being the same Tasman Blue to the one I passed my test in! I'd say replace the original amber/red rear clusters, get the right badges and put then back in the right position, and sort out the ride height if you want suggestions! Thanks for pointing that out. I had no idea. Not too clued up myself on fords. Lowering is very much on the cards. You seem to know a lot more than me about sierras, what's the best lowering methods? I know mk1 focus front coilovers fit but I don't know what to do about the rears. Are springs acceptable? That’s wicked! There’s just something about seeing a Sierra on the road, probably a big factor being you just don’t see them anymore, I can’t wait to see the plans unfold Thank you! It's been a while since I've seen one myself. I've seen this which has recently inspired ... Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr There is currently a set of 17" staggered Comp Mo5's on eBay which I'm sure would look good with a combination of lowering. Offsets seem suitable as well.

They're quite alright with a spring chop due to straight springs, but Gaz and AVO do coilovers. Both decent. There are Focus options too, but never tried that myself.

I chopped a set of springs once many years ago and swore to never do it again. Looking at various sapphire photos it seems very common for the rear to sit too low and look like the boot is full of concrete, this is something I want to avoid. I suppose the appeal of coilovers is that it can be adjusted to suit and pull the back end up if its too low. Problem is I don't want to buy coilovers that are worth more than the car I am bolting them onto! I may have to start a thread regards it to try and understand all of the options. In other news I have been trying to use the car as regularly as possible. I used the car for a run up to bluewater. Very impressed as the old sierra managed to hold its own in the fast lane of the M2 London bound which I was very impressed with! unexpected. by Mr Bacon, on Flickr Even used it to get a KFC, looking for an excuse to use it! Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr However. I have problems with some of the gauges/warning lights. On the motorway it seemed to start to stink a bit, just smelt generally hot. Now I'm not sure if this is due to the fact it has had very limited use, or the fact that it hasn't seen a motorway in what is probably a few years. what is most helpful is the engine temp doesn't seem to rise as it should, I expected the needle to sit halfway on the gauge, however its sitting in the bottom 1/4 of the gauge. I also have an unknown orange warning light on the dash which seems to come and go now and then. Any idea what it could be? Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr Lastly for now, when I first start up the display lights flash up, as they should, but sometimes they don't extinguish. Is there any chance that this and the above mentioned display issues are linked? Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr I went to a local show and saw some cool Sierras, so sapphires though. Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr Untitled by Mr Bacon, on Flickr I keep looking at Cosworth parts for my sapphire. How expensive at these things?!?

I still have the sierra and its still going strong. IMG_4434 by Mr Bacon, on Flickr IMG_4441 by Mr Bacon, on Flickr IMG_4444 by Mr Bacon, on Flickr I've bought some new wheels, I need to get some tyres fitted and I also need to get it lower to the ground still. I have a bit of a lump idle on initial start up, it bounces around a bit occasionally as well. Is there an ICV on these engines that may require cleaning out? I've also been looking for a Cosworth front bumper, but I'm reluctant to pay £400 for one. I am also looking for a Stainless exhaust system, I'm guessing I can get a Cosworth item and fab up an adaptor pipe.

Not sure about the pinto but I used to have the DOHC engine and had the same issue a couple of times. One time it was the throttle potentiometer and the second time it was the airflow control valve (looks just like the valve just behind the throttle on yours) Nice car by the way, lots of potential for tuning I'll just leave this here

I would love to have a decent amount of power in there but have to say I’d probably go with a B204 on a BMW box, they seem like a cheaper route to decent power.
Thanks for the remarks about idling. I’ll get some of the components apart and give them a coating with some carb cleaner and see where we get with that. It’s not too much of a problem, still perfectly driveable.

Having given it a bit of thought I've found myself a bit of a tipping point with the car. Sell it on, or try and modify the car a bit more to my liking. Problem is so many parts now that have "RS" written on them cost a fortune! I have found a front bumper, which I am a bit unsure on, I would love a Cosworth one but they're just so expensive. as an alternative I have found a "RS Option" front bumper, conveniently only about 30 minutes drive away from where I am currently working. Does any one know anything about these bumpers and are they a worth consideration? I understand the RS option section of it is the lower half which was fixed to the bottom of an OEM bumper. This is the best example of one I can find. Obviously this will be paired with other areo alterations and a more suitable set of wheels. Is the RS Option a decent bit of kit or cheap tat? Any advice would be wonderful.

I had an XR4x4 bumper on my P100 as it didn't come with RS tax!
Also, in the mean time, to clean up your faded grey ones, wipe over with a cloth with a little boiled linseed oil on - brings them up like new for no money.

I had a Sierra saloon as a 2nd car (it was just named saloon here) and it also happens to be the first car ever I had a crash with. And the last time a crash was my fault. Had some unfortunate crashes since but all due to other people doing stupid things.
Anyway, I had a 1992 that came standard with the white indicators and this RS type grill. It was a 2.0 DOHC but not the injection version. A CLX spec with slightly different bumpers, side skirts and a rear spoiler. Not as aggressive as a Cosworth or this RS look but a bit better looking than the ones you have now. So maybe that's where you can get those parts cheaper. As you said if it says RS it gets expensive. Maybe 1992 and 1993 CLX comes cheaper. In terms of quality; I would say that even a flimsy polyester is probably better than what Ford put on there themselves. I remember looking at the bumper was enough to have it damaged.

There is a bloke on here with the full rs accessory kit on his sierra, though his one is a 5 door hatch If I remember right. Personally I think the full rs accessory kit in that colour with some nice 17"s and a subtle drop would look absolutely perfect.

Rs option kit looks sound, id want the sideskirts and rear one to match though.
I think the nice clean and lowered on decent wheels on a non cosworth saph looks good with stock bodywork too.
